The Republic of Saneusitania (in Eustanese: Republica de Saneusitània), is a country located in western Archanta. Its territory is formed by the mainland in Gwynian and two archipielagos (Illes Suitats and Illes Bricenhes) in the Asperic Ocean (Ocean Aspèric), in front of the main coast.
Saneusitania has a diverse geography. In the eastern part of the country you can find high mountain ranges (Cordilhèra Mallasa), in the south you can find one of Archanta's main petroleum reserves, in the northern coastline you can find some of the most impressive cliffs and in the western coastline you will find some of the most beautiful, tropical-like beaches.
Before Castellanese rule
During Castellanese rule
On April 16th 1524, Castellanese colonists arrived in Eustatius Island (Isla d'Eustatius), named after a statue of Saint Eustace found on the island. They later conquered TBD Island (TBD), and from there moved to mainland Saneusitania.
Up until 1790, Saneusitania was a Castellanese colony, controlled by the Castellanese Empire.
From August 1788 to November 1790, the Saneusitanian War of Independence took place, and was won by Saneusitanian insurgents.
Transition from Castellanese colony to Independent State
The Saneusitanian War for Independence started as a result of the tension built after the Castellanese government reduced the budget allocation to the colony and it entered into a process of health, social and economic crisis.
One of the promoters of this rebellion was Antoni de Fajoles, a Valosian royalist that had been exiled to Saneusitania in 1772. He had had disputes with the Castellanese King ?, due to discrepancies as to whom was the direct line heir of the Castellanese Crown. He contributed with large amounts of money to the Saneusitanian insurgents.
On November 19th 1790, the Treaty of Vinalau (Tractat de Vinalàu) was signed, recognising the victory of Saneusitanian belligerents and therefore the independence of Saneusitania. Castellanese troops reitred on December 1st 1790, and the process to establish the new country began. Antoni de Fajoles pressured the Provisional Council for the Transition (Conselh Provisionau pera Transicion) for them to elect him as the new Head Of State and Monarch of Saneusitania.
Finally, on December 22nd 1790, the Saneusitanian Kingdom (Reiaume de Saneusitània) was established, with King Antoni de Fajoles (Rei Antoni de Fajoles) as Head of State.
After Castellanese rule
- Monarchy: 1790-1849
- First Republic: 1849-1871
- Second Republic: 1871-1903
- Third Republic: 1903-present day
The Saneusitanian Third Republic was established on 14 April 1903, following the events occured after...
Saneusitania and Valosia have always been tied together, as they share the same language. Valosia was the first country to recognise the Saneusitanian Independence in 1790. It is also to be noted that the Saneusitanian Royal Family (now exiled) have Valosian ascendence.
After Saneusitanian Independence, tensions between Castellán and Saneusitania increased. They extended until the 19th Century, when diplomatic relations were re-established. Both countries signed trade agreements, in order to boost their economies.
These relations were broken with the arisal of Dictator Federico Corleón in Castellán in 1945. Tensions started to rise again and the Saneusitanian Government granted asylum to Castellanese exiles.
After the Dictatorship ended in 1975, diplomatic relations were once again re-established. Saneusitania joined the Commonwealth of Castilophone Countries in 1981, being elected host country for the 1981-1984 period.
The official language of Saneusitania is Eustanese (Eustanès), which is spoken by all of its inhabitants. It evolves from Auvernese (spoken in Valosia). It was introduced by Castellanese colonists from the regions of Auvernia and Valosia in Castellán.
It quickly spread throughout the country and was established official language de facto in 1610, as the Castellanese government did not approve it. It wasn't until the Monarchy was established in 1790 that the Eustanese language became the official language de iure of the country.
Castellanese language is also spoken by about 41% of the population, according to the Institut Estadístic Saneusitan. It was the official and most spoken language during the Castellanese rule, although it rapidly saw the number of speakers decrease after Castellanese colonists left the country. During the Castellanese Fascist Dictatorship, relations with Castellán froze, and so the number of Castellanese language speakers decreased. After the Dictatorship ended, diplomatic relations with Castellán re-estasblished, and Saneusitania joined the Commonwealth of Castilophone Countries in 1981.
Traditionally, Saneusitania has had a ver sporty population. According to a recent survey by the Institut Estadístic Saneusitan (IESE - Saneusitanian Statistical Institue), over 67% of the population claim to practice a sport regularly, while 30% claim to have practiced a sport regularly in the past.
The most popular sports in Saneusitania are: cycling, motoring, football and padel (a form of tennis).
The Federació de Ciclisme de Saneusitània (FECSE - Saneusitanian Cycling Federation), is the body which regulates all cycling events which take place in the country.
