English: Buckle and bead necklace from Szentendre
These goods were found in Grave 85 at the Lombard grave field at Szentendre, the burial of a 50- to 60-year-old woman in a tree trunk coffin. The deceased wore a bead necklace around her neck. Her garment was closed at the neck by two S-shaped fibulae and at the waist by a belt with an iron buckle. Suspended from the belt was a hanger decorated with two bow fibulae and a chalcedon bead. A comb and a knife were also attached to this hanger. The shoe straps of the woman were held together by iron buckles. Next to the body were a spindle and a cup containing food and drink as grave goods. The grave field of Szentendre is counted among the classic Lombard grave fields in Pannonia. At this site, a grave field with 91 burials was excavated. It gives the name for a type of Lombard grave field typical of the north Danubian region which - in contrast to the markedly smaller necropolises in the southern Pannonian region - between 90 and 100 burials took place. Wooden coffins and in some instances mortuary chambers were placed in the graves.

Beigaben von Grab 85, Szentendre. Es handelt sich um die Bestattung einer 50-60 Jahre alte Frau in einem Baumsarg. Die Verstorbene trag ihren Hals lag eine Glasperlenkette. Ihr Gewand wurde am Hals von zwei S-Fibeln und in der Taille von Gürtel mit eiserner Schnalle verschlossen. Am Gürtel hing ein Band, das mit zwei Bügelfibeln und einer Chalzedonperle verziert war. An diesem Band waren außerdem ein Kamm und ein Messer befestigt. Die Schuhriemen der Frau wurden von Eisenschnallen zusammengehalten. Neben dem Leichnam fand sich eine Spindel, Speise- sowie eine Trankbeigabe in einem Becher. In der Ortslage von Szentendre wurde ein langobardisches Gräberfeld mit 91 Bestattungen ausgegraben. Das Gräberfeld von Szentendre ist namengebend für einen im norddanubischen Raum verbreiteten langobardischen Gräberfeldtyp, der - im Gegensatz zu den deutlich kleineren Nekropolen im südpannonischen Raum - zwischen 90 und 100 Bestattungen umfasst. In die Gruben waren hölzerne Särge und z.T. Totenhäuser eingestellt. Das Gräberfeld von Szentendre zählt zu den klassischen langobardischen Gräberfeldern in Pannonien. |
