Vitunea, officially the Republic of Vitunea, is an island country in the southern Asperic Ocean near Wenesinia, and contains the largest island (Vitunea Levu Rava) and several smaller islands. The main island, Vitunea Levu Rava is mountainous, with a marine subtropical climate. The country covers 2,205 km2 with a population of approximately 210,000 inhabitants. The country is dominated by the port city of Koronuku, which serves as the capital. The country’s government is based around the National Parliament, which is headed by a President, elected by the populace.

Etymology

Vitunea was named after an amalgamation of Vitunean and Franquese names for the country. "Vitu" is the Vitunean word for people. The Franquese historically referred to the islands as "Île fourneau" (Furnace Island). As such, Vitunea (sometimes spelt historically as Vituneau) became a popular term for the territory.

Prehistory

Vitunean mythology

In Vitunean mythology, the world was once inhabited by god-like giants, who were so large and ancient, their bodies formed the world's landmasses and islands. Vitunea was said to have been formed by the body of a battle-scarred giant named Levurava. These battle scars formed the mountains and valleys of the island today. Levurava died after fighting a battle with another giant, Kokei, who now forms Wenesinia to the east. Then, from the bodies of the giants, life sprung. Humans, animals, and plants rose from the ground and as such, are tied to their respective giants.
