[[File:Mount Garibaldi and The Table.jpg|300px|right|thumb|The dormant volcano in Ateria]]Ateria is a province in [[Deodeca]]. It is the "southwestern" province in Deodeca as a whole. It has a population of 5.5 million people. It borders Newcambry to the Northwest and Oachanuntakan to the East. It borders Ardencia with one crossing (Highway 17). It also borders Ambroisie to the West and has five crossings (TDH-2, 27, 87, 61, 81)
=== Etymology ===
Ateria is a corruption of A-TIR meaning Place of Rivers in the native KLACA peoples language.
Glenburn is named for a large bush fire set by angry Franquese settlers

==== My Mapping Classifications ====
* Level 0 - No mapping at all. Hard corners and white blank area. There are presently no Level 0 areas in Ateria.
* Level I - Basic Land-Fill: Hard corners and mass-natural filling with one type. There may be some very basic and unnamed rivers or straight motorways. Currently the plains between Hanapila and Glenburn are Level I
* Level IO - Old mapping: Undetailed and yucky mapping from the previous owner who liked swamps. Much of it will be or has been deleted. The only areas that remain are Southwest Ateria (just north of Massif)
* Level IIN- Level 2 Natural. These areas have more detailed forests but are still homologous. Rivers and roads may also be detailed. Currently much of Northwest Ateria is level IIN
* Level IIU - Level 2 Urban. These city areas have basic connections and a residential area outline. Much of the Glenburn metro area and Winding River area are Level IIU
* Level IIIN - Level 3 Natural. All streams and rivers have been added in a detailed manner. In mountainous areas, diverse land types (scrub, heather, rock) has been added or maybe some cliffs. Select mountain ranges in Ateria are level IIIN.
* Level IIIU - Level 3 Urban. These city areas are rarely seen. They have major roads outlined and some railway infrastructure and perhaps some large parks but other than that it is bare. Currently, New Sprawlinston and Pine Grove are in Level IIIU stage.
* Level IIIR - Level 3 Rural. This is where farm areas are first traced, but they are rather undetailed rectangles. The only Level IIIR area is Rauland Lake and much of the West Interior
* Level IVN - Complete Natural Mapping: All peaks, cliffs, rivers, and streams are completed in a detailed manner. Service roads are logical. Currently, there are pretty much no Level 4N mapping in Ateria.
* Level IVU - Level 4 Urban: All roads and parks have been filled in. Commercial and industrial landuses have been created and there may be some services. However, paths and micromapping are sparse or non-existent. Ruby River, Glenburn CIty, and Winding River are examples of Level IVU Mapping
* Level IVR - Level 4 Rural: Boundaries between farms in type 4 farmland are well defined. Tracks, farmyards, or diverse drainage areas have been added. Levees near rivers. Much of the Pine Grove area farmland is level IVR.
* Level VU - Complete Urban Mapping: All houses and buildings have had their oulines traced. Paths, stoplights, and other small objects have been added in its entirety. The only areas that are level VU in Ateria is Royal Bay.
* Level VR - Complete Rural: Tracks, driveways, fences, pens, drainage, etc: Rural areas look like OSM and every thing has been added. Only little bits of Pine Grove farmland or Fort-En-Gale/sie I could even consider giving a VR grade to.
* Level VIU - Insane Detail Urban Mapping: Different parts of buildings have been created with diverse businesses and height tags have been filled in. Has the same amount or more detail than the city centres of OSM. Only the oldest cities in OGF attain this level, and certainly no-where in Ateria.

For the last few thousand years, the area was inhabited by assorted groups of Archantan Indigenous Peoples.
=== Colonisation ===
In [??], Ingerish and Franquese settlers both tried to claim the land around Glenburn as theirs. Interactions became increasingly more hostile and organized. The battles culminated in the Franquese setting a large fire that burned much of the Glenburn area. That is how Glenburn got its name. In the end, the settlers won and Oanatchukan Territory [sic][sic][sic] was created over the combined area of both AT and OA.

After some more fighting in 1790, Glenburn Territory was established which encompassed Glenburn and Winding River (Regions A and B today). Just 10 years later, Ateria gained its full land borders.
== Natural Features ==
=== Landscape ===
Ateria is one of the five landlocked provinces. That said, it does contain a portion of the largest lake: Lake Oachanuntakan (OA). This lake is fed mostly by the Ateria River and Winding River, the former of which is an amalgamation of the Ateria, Ruby, and Kelekel Rivers.

=== Climate ===
=== Climate ===
Being surrounded by mountains,  Ateria experiences significantly more precipitation in the south than neighbouring provinces due to trapped moisture. The north of the province has a CFB Koppen classification while the south (Midway and S) has a DFB (cool, no dry season, warm summers). However, the same can not be said about the north which is rather dry and has a Semiarid classification.
Being surrounded by mountains,  Ateria experiences significantly more precipitation in the south than neighbouring provinces due to trapped moisture. The north of the province has a CSB to BSH Koppen classification while the south (Midway and S) has a DFB (cool, no dry season, warm summers). However, the same can not be said about the north which is rather dry and has a BSH classification.

=== Waterways ===
Ateria has many waterways. Here are some major ones:

==== The Ateria River (Watershed) ====
Ateia River is the second-largest river flowing into Lake Oaunatchukan. It is the river around which the city of Glenburn was built. It has abnormally steep banks in its lower portion. 10 km from Lake OA, the river splits in to three: Ateria River continues west, but the Ruby and Kelekel Rivers continue North. 15 km west, the Ateria River flows into Lake Malno. Here it converges with the Rivons, Fayette, and Helgeta Rivers. After the Malno Lake, the banks shallow and the river winds through plains and farmland. Here, the Ateria River is prone to flooding during the winter months. In this section, it joins with both the Cagodan and Belliterra Rivers. After this, it goes through Mizu Lake and continues up to Lake Thomas. This last section is not significantly mapped.

==== Ruby River ====
The Ruby River Begins officially in Riverbend, a suburb of Glenburn. It continues Northwest into Jessie Lake before  going into Ruby Lake.  Ruby Lake is both a hydroelectric dam and a water resivoir. After this, it goes in to the Loch Lake. After Loch lake there are many tributaries, but none are mapped to significance.

==== Kelekel River ====
The Kelekel River has the largest Lake

== Regions, Districts, and Post ==
Ateria uses a dual-hierarchial system for subdenominations of land use. Province -> Region (ABCDEF) Region -> District (Region letter plus a number from 0-99) These are used for electoral boundaries, post service and provincial/national matters. Towns and cities are independent but in most cases follow district boundaries.

Post system follows lnlnln format, like Canada. This is divided in to [Province][District-subdist (2 chars)][Code(3chars)] followed by a letter descriptor. There are 12 million possible unique postal codes. The last 6 characters of a buildings postal code (including the descriptor) are used for the SystemBuildingCode.

=== Subway/Light Rail ===
Both Massif and Glenburn have light-rail systems. Massif is mainly at-grade but Glenburn functions as more of a traditional underground/elevated train. In the map shown here, a double line is a train whereas the single line is a subway.

The dormant volcano in Ateria

Ateria is a province in Deodeca.

Etymology

Ateria is a corruption of A-TIR meaning Place of Rivers in the native KLACA peoples language.

Glenburn is named for a large bush fire set by angry Franquese settlers

4th-wall breaking technical information

My Mapping Classifications

  • Level 0 - No mapping at all. Hard corners and white blank area. There are presently no Level 0 areas in Ateria.
  • Level I - Basic Land-Fill: Hard corners and mass-natural filling with one type. There may be some very basic and unnamed rivers or straight motorways. Currently the plains between Hanapila and Glenburn are Level I
  • Level IO - Old mapping: Undetailed and yucky mapping from the previous owner who liked swamps. Much of it will be or has been deleted. The only areas that remain are Southwest Ateria (just north of Massif)
  • Level IIN- Level 2 Natural. These areas have more detailed forests but are still homologous. Rivers and roads may also be detailed. Currently much of Northwest Ateria is level IIN
  • Level IIU - Level 2 Urban. These city areas have basic connections and a residential area outline. Much of the Glenburn metro area and Winding River area are Level IIU
  • Level IIIN - Level 3 Natural. All streams and rivers have been added in a detailed manner. In mountainous areas, diverse land types (scrub, heather, rock) has been added or maybe some cliffs. Select mountain ranges in Ateria are level IIIN.
  • Level IIIU - Level 3 Urban. These city areas are rarely seen. They have major roads outlined and some railway infrastructure and perhaps some large parks but other than that it is bare. Currently, New Sprawlinston and Pine Grove are in Level IIIU stage.
  • Level IIIR - Level 3 Rural. This is where farm areas are first traced, but they are rather undetailed rectangles. The only Level IIIR area is Rauland Lake and much of the West Interior
  • Level IVN - Complete Natural Mapping: All peaks, cliffs, rivers, and streams are completed in a detailed manner. Service roads are logical. Currently, there are pretty much no Level 4N mapping in Ateria.
  • Level IVU - Level 4 Urban: All roads and parks have been filled in. Commercial and industrial landuses have been created and there may be some services. However, paths and micromapping are sparse or non-existent. Ruby River, Glenburn CIty, and Winding River are examples of Level IVU Mapping
  • Level IVR - Level 4 Rural: Boundaries between farms in type 4 farmland are well defined. Tracks, farmyards, or diverse drainage areas have been added. Levees near rivers. Much of the Pine Grove area farmland is level IVR.
  • Level VU - Complete Urban Mapping: All houses and buildings have had their oulines traced. Paths, stoplights, and other small objects have been added in its entirety. The only areas that are level VU in Ateria is Royal Bay.
  • Level VR - Complete Rural: Tracks, driveways, fences, pens, drainage, etc: Rural areas look like OSM and every thing has been added. Only little bits of Pine Grove farmland or Fort-En-Gale/sie I could even consider giving a VR grade to.
  • Level VIU - Insane Detail Urban Mapping: Different parts of buildings have been created with diverse businesses and height tags have been filled in. Has the same amount or more detail than the city centres of OSM. Only the oldest cities in OGF attain this level, and certainly no-where in Ateria.

History

Pre-Ulethan History

Lusher Boreal forests in the wetter south

For the last few thousand years, the area was inhabited by assorted groups of Archantan Indigenous Peoples.

Colonisation

In [??], Ingerish and Franquese settlers both tried to claim the land around Glenburn as theirs. Interactions became increasingly more hostile and organized. The battles culminated in the Franquese setting a large fire that burned much of the Glenburn area. That is how Glenburn got its name. In the end, the settlers won and Oanatchukan Territory [sic][sic][sic] was created over the combined area of both AT and OA.

Modern History

The semiarid grasslands of Northern Ateria

After some more fighting in 1790, Glenburn Territory was established which encompassed Glenburn and Winding River (Regions A and B today). Just 10 years later, Ateria gained its full land borders.

Natural Features

Landscape

Ateria is one of the five landlocked provinces. That said, it does contain a portion of the largest lake: Lake Oachanuntakan (OA). This lake is fed mostly by the Ateria River and Winding River, the former of which is an amalgamation of the Ateria, Ruby, and Kelekel Rivers.

Climate

Being surrounded by mountains, Ateria experiences significantly more precipitation in the south than neighbouring provinces due to trapped moisture. The north of the province has a CSB to BSH Koppen classification while the south (Midway and S) has a DFB (cool, no dry season, warm summers). However, the same can not be said about the north which is rather dry and has a BSH classification.

Waterways

Ateria has many waterways. Here are some major ones:

The Ateria River (Watershed)

Ruby River

The Ruby River Begins officially in Riverbend, a suburb of Glenburn. It continues Northwest into Jessie Lake before going into Ruby Lake. Ruby Lake is both a hydroelectric dam and a water resivoir. After this, it goes in to the Loch Lake. After Loch lake there are many tributaries, but none are mapped to significance.

Kelekel River

The Kelekel River has the largest Lake

Regions, Districts, and Post

Code Name Population Postal Code Notes

E Region of the North-west 25,000 J9Z0A0-A -> J9Z9Z9-Z Barely populated

Infrastructure

Highways

The Highways of Ateria follow a very hierarchical system. Major highways are typically freeways but not always. They are always routes that are used frequently and form the backbone of the highways system
