Future games

What about bidding on future games? in RW they bid 10 years beforehand. I think there are no limitations to bid on the 2024 games since venues need to "start construction" around the time of the previous games --Ifgus (talk) 18:30, 5 August 2021 (EEST)

It has already been decided that all bids for future games will be conducted after the date has passed. For us, construction is not an issue, since mappers can simply retcon their city so that the venues were in fact under construction since 2020. --Lithium-Ion (talk) OGF 18:08, 5 August 2021 (CEST)

Old Discussion (2015-2020)

I am creating this page as a suggestion for a streamlined, non-time-constrained bidding process for Geolympiad Games. I am very open to suggestions, ideas, modifications, edits, etc. This is a community project, and I am not attached to this particular idea, but I think it can work. Feedback welcome!--Luciano (talk) 06:55, 16 August 2015 (CEST)
Thanks for that forum, Luciano. I think, the mimimum-bids shall be 5 votes. --Histor (talk) 09:59, 16 August 2015 (CEST)
I like it the way you proposed. I don't know yet what a minimum number of votes should be. --Joschi81 (talk) 13:54, 16 August 2015 (CEST)
What are the requirements for a Geolympiad bid? All current bids include the venues which are usually built after the decision. What will happen with them if the bidding process was not successful? Most of them look like Geolypiad venues (size, all in one city, ...), just renaming them seems to be no solution. Can there be a (successful) bid without mapped Geolympiad venues like in reality? --Mstr (talk) 00:46, 15 April 2017 (CEST)
I am re-asking Mstr's question. I don't think people should map all the venues beforehand because in a case they don't "win" the bidding process, they have to delete, more, resize or rename everything --Ifgus (talk) 00:24, 26 February 2018 (EET)
I would love to learn how I could enter my city for such an occasion and what preparations I would need to do to get it ready for such an ordeal. -Quarked

Logically, your country needs to have lots of money prepared for the Geolympiads. Is your country also large enough to accommodate at least 200+ countries of athletes? If not, then don't bother bidding! Singapore would have hosted one if it has enough space to accommodate, or Malaysia if it is richer.--14:30, 19 April 2018 (CEST)

Is it possible for multiple countries to host the olympics at one point? This is similar to what's happening in 2026 with the FIFA world cup in Canada, Mexico and the US of A. I'm saying this for many of the smaller countries like my own (which I am aware is still majorly empty). --Thanks, Trombonist2003 (talk) (talk) 15:54, 24 July 2018 (CEST)

Climate requirements for winter games?

Are there any climate requirements to bid for winter games?--Mstr (talk) 21:36, 25 June 2017 (CEST)

This is slightly obvious... Imagine holding the Winter Olympics in Malaysia. The games will surely be ruined unless all of the games are at Mount Kinabalu, which does not have a large space like Pyeongchang, South Korea. Mergany should be OK to host one, as it is a temperate nation.--Happy mapping and God bleses you, ZK (talk) 14:30, 19 April 2018 (CEST)
