Dear Tarephians & Antarephians,

As our continents share a long and narrow interface along the Strait of Lyc, the forum entry is dedicated to building a list of plants and animals that would be deemed common to our territories (or some of them), or sharing a common ancestor.

Thank you for your cooperation & happy mapping. --Aiki (talk) 18:20, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

Dear OGF Community,

I am reaching out regarding Antarephian fauna -and most probably Tarephia fauna as well – aspects. Over the past year, I have tried to gather inputs from Antarephian territories into the dedicated “guideline” page.

In terms of native animals (mainly a combination of the South Cone and the Cape Region) that could have been domesticated, we already have (images/links are on the guideline page):

  • Vicuñas and guanacos (domesticated camelids are llamas and alpacas) for meat and wool in semi-arid and arid northwestern highlands such as in Dacategia.
  • Kudus in west Antarephian Mediterranean area (Guai, Leresso) with a its domesticated form (partly RW domesticated common eland, animal belonging to the same tribe but to the same genus, plays that role) for meat and milk.

In order to have a bit larger choice of livestock, I have been discussing with local mappers about adding Bovidae with a plausible domesticated variant (available in usable stock photos) for meat and milk source in this part of the world. Would you think we should have either or both of the below options:

  • Buffalos (e.g. Italian Mediterranean Buffalo) that would be understood as a subspecies of the wild Tarephian buffalo (either an African buffalo or water buffalo) that was domesticated, for example in the Lycene Region, and brought over to Antarephia sometime in the past. These have not been traditionally present in Southern Africa or the South Cone;
  • A form of Sanga cattle like the Afrikaner breed. This may mean that one of the ancestor breeds would have come from the northern part of Tarephia (to mimic RW Northeast Africa domestication zone).

Could this fit in your Tarephian and Antarephian countries’ nature, history, past and present agriculture?

Thank you & happy mapping ! --Aiki (talk) 17:17, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
