Flag

As a kick-starter to this Forum, the community will be deciding upon a flag for Malësoria. Anyone is welcome to discuss and add onto the conversations, as well as add flag proposals. Rules of the flag itself:

  • Do not base it off the flag of Albania - I mean, really?
  • Do not include symbols from neighboring countries - Due to the imagined political situation in Malësoria, the flag should avoid any symbolism from its neighbors whatsoever (The crescent of the Demirhan Empire is an exception). You can try to create an unique symbol for the country.
  • Be unique - Self-explanatory.

Flags which do not get selected for the national flag will be reused for an alternative subject within the country.

List your proposals below. The submission period is over. Bixelkoven (talk) 12:05, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

Flag proposals

Rustem Pasha

So here is my first proposal. I'm really bad at making flags, however that one seems acceptable:

I like the idea. Might I suggest a variation without the black stripes? — Alessa (talk) 21:53, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
+1 It looks really promising, but the black stripes are indeed too much. Bixelkoven (talk) 13:27, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
For me the version without black stripes looks a bit empty, that's why I added them. But as you don't seem to like it, here is pure green and gold version. Rustem Pasha (talk) 14:51, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
Perhaps with just the central symbol? Alternatively, maybe the symbols on the sides could be turned into a border around the entire flag, rather than the two rectangles they are in now, which don't look quite right to me. Overall it looks really nice though, I like the colors and the symbolism. --Lithium-Ion (talk) 15:03, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
In case when the leaves are around the border the trident is not visible while version with only trident looks pretty empty (real world flag with different colors but the same motive). Personally I see both versions as worse than current one. Rustem Pasha (talk) 15:14, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Timboh

I decided to chip in with a flag idea. Since we were encouraged to create our own symbols for Malësoria, I attempted to design a unique symbol with the tools available to me. I'm not sure what the symbol actually represents; perhaps abstract flora? A headpiece? An old pagan symbol? I think with room for interpretation one can find a place for the symbol in Malësorian culture. Otherwise the flag is fairly simple with a gold bordure pattern.

Looks really nice - perhaps a better version could be with only the clover symbol and not the stuff under it? That would make me think of an emblem on a shield, maybe symbolizing defense and strength? --Lithium-Ion (talk) 21:18, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
I really like this, I would create an entire unique culture for Malesoria around this symbol --Stjur (talk) 17:09, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

BMSOUZA

So, here is my proposal.

Avoiding the red/black from RW Albanian flag. Well, the blue here is not from the kosovar flag, I need to keep it clear in this explanation. Real inspiration are RW Kazakhstan flag and also from a former OGF country, I think it name was "Balkaria". I like the idea of a side stripe with some polygonal shapes pattern as some traditional thing from "slavic(???)" people, hehehe. Maybe someone agree with me about this concept. -- BMSOUZA (talk) 15:36, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

The flags you three have proposed are incredible. Each one of them is really unique, I can only feel bad for knowing only one can be chosen for the country. However, rules are rules, so I will open the voting for the best flag. The rules are simple, list the 3 flags best to least good, and send the list to me in the OGF private messages. Link. I will calculate the result and post the winner after 2 weeks. Only one vote per user; you can vote for your own flag if you have submitted one. Good luck.
