The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

AR019

Name: Haʂi

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Haʂi encompasses the tropical climate that it shares with Mecyna down south, and AR066 up north. Since this tropical environment thins out as it heads south from North Archanta to South Archanta, Haʂi is full of dense trees. However, it has its fair share of grasslands, most of which are to the west near the coast. To the east, where the majority of the tropics are, there is a mountain range with an average height of 4,000 feet above sea level.

10-15% mountaineous (+1000 feet)

70% forested

15% plains

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The country has a large industry of exporting goods. Its climate allows for the production of perishable goods, which it does more than raw minerals. The country's currency is of little value, so it sells to countries to make better money. It imports technology, which shows in its major cities. The population is around 11-15 million, most of which are around the south tip in the west.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

The people of Haʂi settled there a long time ago, as the country exists near the meeting point between two gigantic land masses where migration occurs often. The natives have developed solidarity with their neighbors because many tribes are the conglomerates of an ancestor one. As such, this country shares a similar language with its neighbors, but through time, made some alterations. They call it Haʂacu, but not in modification to the name of the country; rather, the country was named after them and the language. Throughout history, many conquerors have attempted to infiltrate the nation, but all lose to the wisdom that the natives have learned in the forests of their home. This is why they practice "The Word of the Forest" as they've learned to associate the trees as some sort of a divine protection.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

I did mapping relevant to the theme of this country, but since I had been inactive, they were wiped.

Discussion for clarification & decision

  • Hi, this territory is within the "African" themed area of North Archanta - can you expand on how your application relates to that please. Thanks/wangi (talk) 21:02, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello Wangi, my application relates to the African theme because Haʂi is based on central African countries, where the environment consists mainly of rainforests. Also, like many African nations, Haʂi has almost been a victim of European-equivalent imperialism, but as we can see, its name is not of any such languages. I don't know why the Federal States of Archanta would be below me if I were to be an African themed nation, but since they do, they have had influence on Haʂi culture by introducing the ideas of nationalism. Like many African countries, Haʂi was also introduced to the Latin script by colonialists, but because they were successfully able to reinvigorate their native cultures, they adapted their language to the Latin script rather than completely converting. However, even though this country is African themed, its location in this fictional world is very unique because it sits near the pathway between two huge land masses, as opposed to be on one, and because the cultures of these two land masses seem to be very different, Haʂi cannot easily be represented by any one African country. It is a country with some African aspects, and its own unique ones as well. Also, the image I had shown you of my past mapping displayed the cities of a country that was influenced by East African infrastructure and road styles. I hope you see the connection now, thanks. Yeah thanks, but I'm still none the wiser - explicitly, which language are you proposing to use? /wangi (talk) 09:48, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello Wangi, I apologize. The language I'm proposing to use is a conlanguage that has weak ties to other languages with the Latin script. It is meant to be unique because of its history. I called it Haʂacu. Noncertifiedbruhs (talk) 11:21, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Ok, what I can offer is a BG territory, for example BG34, as an interim measure. This would give you a dedicated place to recreate mapping to evidence the theme, while also demonstrate the conlang. After building up a reasonable amount of mapping you can make a new application. Any mapping can then be moved. /wangi (talk) 11:50, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

Yes, that would be okay. Thanks for your time. Noncertifiedbruhs (talk) 12:42, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
