Please fill in the information below to make a territory request.
Noun Project Signature icon 619326 cc.svgTerritory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

AR120-46 - Wychelle

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Wychelle will be modelled after Northwestern US States such as Montana, Idaho, and Oregon. The climate will resemble a temperature albeit somewhat drier inland state that has a mixture of pine forests, deciduous forests, river wetland areas, and drier mountainous regions.

Topography will follow a general slope from the mountains/hills to the west with Clamash, to the flat riverplains to the east of the Akogama River. Forest areas shown in the sketch map outline the major areas of elevation throughout the state. The northern bulb of the state contains some of the most elevated terrain.

The landscape will be a involve the blending of densely wooded areas to patchwork agricultural fields and pastures in flatter areas. Agriculture will be more present in the flatter eastern half of the state, whilst the western half will be dominated by the hills and forests of the range.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Wychelle will be a mainly rural, agricultural and manufacturing state, similar to Montana and Idaho. With a population of roughly 1.5 million, the majority of residents will live in the Akogama City-Barstone metropolitan area, with roughly 350,000 people. The state capital, Artonsville, will have a population of 200,000 people. The third city, Cadastral, will have a population of 50,000 people. The rest of the population will be dispersed mainly throughout the southeast, where flat land is most available for agricultural farms and townships.

The state's economy will be mainly focused on agricultural production and export. This is mainly due to the climate and wide range of arable land. Light manufacturing around the major cities will also be a major economic bastion. In some areas, ore and mineral mining will be present, such as the foothills.

The FS-81 will follow southwards from Saint Eustace, through Artonsville, to Akogama City. The FS-40 will link from Clamash to Akogama City.

The mapping style will be reflective of natural mapping seen in Northwest US States.

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

Culturally, Wychelle will be reminiscent of the rural, "cowboy" states such as Wyoming, etc. Although the cities are well-developed and populated, the dominance of rural lifestyle in the culture is still present.

The local indigenous language and culture will be reflective of the real-world Cheyenne peoples.

I have decided to the use the name "Wychelle", originally used for one of my old states. If the city on Lake Beautouis continues to be called Wychelle too, justification can be made where the city was named after the state, or vice-versa.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

Noun project 579150 Conversation.svgDiscussion
Discussion for clarification & decision

I would also ask that I could withdraw my ownership of Teluktebu (AR005). If this request is accepted, I would like to keep my current projects more limited which will enable to work more consistently between them. Arlo (talk) 04:06, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Hello Arlo,

I've discussed this territory request with the FSA project coordinators. Unfortunately, the general consensus is that an Idaho/Montana/Oregon-style state is not appropriate in this location; namely, the terrain should be much flatter than what you've sketched out above. Additionally, much of the land in the Akogama River watershed is intended to be more Midwestern/Great Plains themed rather than Mountain/Pacific Northwest, and we'd also like to ensure that some of the existing areas already mapped will be maintained moving forward.

As such, in regards to this application, you'll need to agree with the following requirements:

  • Clarify your current status in AR120-59 (Wisecota). You are listed as a state co-owner with Canada_LaVearn, but your edit history shows no edits there within the last six months.
  • No peaks above 2500m are permitted anywhere in the state.
  • No peaks above 2000m are permitted south of the 37th Parallel (approximately even with Saint Eustace, TE). All land south of the 37th Parallel should be flat or rolling enough to support valley-based settlements and prairies.
  • No peaks above 1000m are permitted south of the 38th Parallel (approximately even with Artonsville).
  • The City of Nenova should be maintained as-is (except to add additional detail). This includes maintaining the name of the city.

If you do want a territory with more rugged terrain, there are other options available. You may be interested in AR060-03 in Deodeca -- while it is not in the FSA, it is still North American-themed, and you probably can easily adapt your plan as presented above simply by rotating things about 45 degrees counterclockwise.

Let me know your thoughts and we'll go from there. --TheMayor (talk) 20:38, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for your response Mayor,

I misinterpreted the topography of the area and as such planned for more elevated terrain but I am more happy with adapting to more Great Plains theme for the state. I intend to maintain all of Infra's previous mapping and I will refrain from renaming Nenova.
As for Wisecota, beyond the initial request to join him as co-owner, Canada and I haven't had any further communication. So I am unsure of my position exactly. Unsigned comment by Arlo (talk).
Hi, Arlo. There are a lot of nice things about the application. One thing that might be nice would be to see you demonstrate a little bit of the theme of the high plains (Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas). I offer the area either around Traverse or Balaban in West Massodeya for you to show what you can do with the theme. As you probably know, it's not just a north–south-oriented grid. I'm always happy to talk about it, and you wouldn't have to ask for permission to edit one of these two areas. Just let me know, so I can make sure your work isn't griefed while for this application. My only real condition is that whatever you map stays in WM. Otherwise, you're welcome to use it as a sandbox to test out the theme. Cheers! — Alessa (talk) 16:11, 27 December 2022 (UTC)

Based on your recent mapping in West Massodeya, I'm approving this application for AR120-46, in exchange for AR005 as requested. --TheMayor (talk) 19:23, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Keep in mind that the FSA is a large collaborative project; frequent activity, coordination, and cooperation are important parts of the project's success.
