The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

Nunaqujjuk - UL19b

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

The nation will be a cold, desolate and isolated country with some warmer areas in the southeast, the north will have many bays and peninsulas and some mountains and would be inspired by far east Siberia, which let me say right now is one of my favourite places and why I want to join OGF, to make an arctic country.

Anyway, the south will be flat with many taiga biome forests and some rolling hills. The north will be somewhat mountainous and is hard to navigate.

But it would have many ore deposits.

Sketch

- Purple = Motorway

- Red = Trunk Road

- Pink = regional route

Grey = Taiga

Black = Tundra

As some advice from the discord, I will remove the freeways and only the most important roads in south may be dual carrigeway.

And I will also stop most of the paved roads about 150 - 200 miles above arctic circle, (with some extreme exceptions paved road might continue)

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The population would mostly be in the southeast, a paved road will go all the way up to northwestern peninsula, where it would turn into seasonal ice roads or muddy tracks in summer, which would be gravel in the spring as the traffic would be less, in the northern area the roads will be gravel with small settlements few and far between, though each coastal settlement will have a port to allow goods to be shipped in summer when the roads become impassable mud.

The economic development is based on ore exports and agriculture in the southeast.

The infrastructure would be soviet style as that is the history I am basing this nation off of.

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The northern areas would be inspired by northern Canada and far east Siberia like Inuits, Yakuts and Chukchi people who are well aware of the cold, in the south however it will be mainly like Swedish people, however languages will be Aardiqqut for the north and Jarjekilli in the south

many people in the 1930s and 40s would have been sent to concentration camps for minor crimes in the far north to build dirt highways, and if they died their bones would be part of the road. The indigenous people are less now due to the soviet-style past, but still remain and continue their culture.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

My main focus would be the roads connecting places and the landscape first as that is kind of my special spot.

  • Thank you for your application. The concept you propose for the territory is appropiate for its location and fits into the larger concept for East Uletha. However, while the mapping examples you have provided are very detailed, they are quite limited in scope and especially lack mapping of natural features. I'd ask you to continue mapping in a blue territory for a little while longer and try to establish some natural mapping appropiate for the territory of UL19b. We can then revisit this territory application and I'd be happy to assist in moving your previous mapping to the new territory. Happy mapping! Leowezy (talk) 17:30, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

  • Thank you, this is a really good start. Just keep on working on your mapping for another few weeks like this and then come back to this application. Especially for large scales features, using JOSM can be really helpful, you can check out how to configure it here: Help:Configuring JOSM for OpenGeofiction. Especially for complicated landuse patterns, where you right now have several types of areas overlapping each other, using relations or splitting up the areas to avoid overlaps can help. Happy mapping! Leowezy (talk) 18:26, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Thank you, I am going on holiday just after my bday (31st August), btw I have JOSM but it crashes on my chromebook, although I can do it iD.
