The majority of the territory (especially the southern part) it’s taiga with small mountain ranges that reach up to 1200m, in the north of the country there are glaciers and most of the land is tundra with a very rugged coastline full of fjords, meanwhile the center of the country is very mountainous, thanks to the Hjörsk mountain range, in which there are glaciers in which most of the country's rivers are born.

The population of Nordland is mainly concentrated in the south part of the country, having the 75% of the population, the north of the country only have the 6% of the population. The total population of Nordland is almost 3 million people, 87% of the population are nordlandic, 11% are inuktitut and the rest 2% are minorities: Jewish,Chukchi, Polish, almost others.

The establishment of population in Nordland dates back to 2000 years ago with the Sirmirmiutat culture (ancestors of the Inuktitut) who populated the lands until the arrival of Viking settlers in the south, so the indigenous population had to migrate north, and later there was a war for mineral resources that lasted about 20 years, which ended with Viking victory, the Vikings flourished and settled throughout Nordland, except in the north. Later the kingdom of Nordland was formed after becoming independent from Ruoguovvás by the descendants of the Vikings, dissatisfied with the treatment of the Nordland people.
