Tarrumarca is my new country, located in the Sea of Uthyra in eastern Tarephia.

Currently relocating/restructuring some of my edits from Rogolnika (Archanta) to Tarrumarca. TBD...

Notes:

Culture

This country has a Latin American culture (specifically in Central America). Does not specifically pertain to a single country in Central America. Religion is predominantly Ortolic (RW-Catholic), with native belief systems in the western parts of the country.

Language

Castellanese (RW-Spanish) is the lingua franca (bridge language) throughout the country. Meanwhile, the native/indigenous areas have their own local languages (conlang).

Landcover

More forests, groves, and wooded areas are situated in the north and south. The central area (east of Lago de Tarrumarca) is composed of wide plains and grasslands.

  • The Southwestern area (near Tarephia Equatorial) is mountainous and also forested. Coastal areas are hilly and flat.
  • Motorways are built, but only for inter-city connections to cities along the coastline.

Government

Federal presidential republic; 12 Provinces, 4 Territories, and 1 Capital Territory

  • Every province is subdivided into municipalities (municipios)
  • Executive: Head of State and the Head of government is the “President” (Presidente Nacional)
  • Legislative: Unicameral house is called “Parlamento Nacional” and is made up of ~99 to 120 members from each municipality (Municipio)
  • Judicial: Corte Nacional de Justicia (CNJ) - a court that deals with national cases; provincial and local courts exist in municipalities and cities

History

  • Colonized by the Castellanese in the 17th century, the country won its independence in 1901, after a 9-year protracted war against the Castellanese Empire (1892-1901)
  • Post-independence era; ruled by the elite (~ the 1920s-40s)
  • Fragile Democracy (1940's-60s)
  • military rule (~ 1960s-1972)
  • federalism referendum (1964), switch from a unitary form of government
  • revolution, then a brief civil revolt (throughout 1972)
  • transition to a democratic civilian government (starting in January 1973).

Economy

Mainly centered on agriculture (largest sector; around 52%), service sector (centered in urban cities); local manufacturing; mining (copper and silver); forestry (forested provinces)

  • Only the seaside settlements have an economy that ranges from average to upper-level. (Ciudad Naronio, proposed Capital Territory, etc.)
  • Towns/settlements located in the central, southern, and western areas have an economy that ranges from average to lower-level. (agricultural, farming, etc.)
