The current Grisean Alphabet has 47 letters and no digraphs. Formerly counted as letters, the Grisean language has seven diacritic marks, the acute (´), the breve (˘), the circumflex (ˆ), the macron (¯), the caron (ˇ), the diaeresis (¨), and the horn ( ̛). The acute accent represents stress, the breve represents a schwa and is only used on the letter a, the circumflex also represents a schwa, used on the letter e, and used on the letter a to make the /a/ sound. It is also used to make the /ai/ sound when placed on the letter i. The macron represents extended letters. The diaeresis represents the glottal stop between vowels. An apostrophe is used in its place when there is two of the same vowel but when the latter has stress, and between two different vowels. The horn is used only on the letter u to represent the sound ɨ and is counted as a standard letter rather than an accented one. The letters with diacritics that are still categorized as letters are Å, Ć, Č, Ê, Ħ, Î, Ķ, Ł, Ḿ, Ń, Ň, Ø, Ř, Ŕ, Š, Ś, Ť, Ư, Ẃ, Ý, Ž, and Ź.
