This is a page designed to give a publically accessible outlet to ideas by me or User:Mie regarding the lore of UL14b flag.png Geklinia-Dregolesia and possibly neighboring countries. These ideas are are not currently canon, once the ideas are added to canon, they will move onto the county's page. If you have any ideas regarding this, or the lore affects you, do use the discussion page.

Introduction

Primary inspirations for Geklinia-Dregolesia are obviously Poland and Ukraine, with central-eastern European influence in general. However interesting similarities to Austria-Hungary and Belgium were also noticed.

History

Prehistory

The rough area of the country likely starts to appear on [whoever's responsible for classical civilisation in OGF] maps ~-100. OGF:Slavs probably move onto this area at around that time, we don't really know where OGF:Slavic urheimat is but this is probably not far from it, expect OGF:Celtic or OGF:Uralic substrates maybe.

Early History

First written descriptions probably around 300 or 400.

Documentation of kingdoms probably appears ~550.

Medieval History

Christity probably arrives to the area ~700.

Kingdoms probably start coming under Lechian control ~950.

OGF:Great-Schism leaves most of Geklinia and northern Dregolesia and Zamednovcha on the Ortholic side, and southern Dregolesia and Zamednovcha on the Ekelan side.

All of Geklinia under relatively firm Lechian control by 1240, this is probably around when texts in the local Lechian dialect start to appear, due to Lechian political influence the local dialect would fail to obtain its own literary standard and ultimately significantly diverge from Lechian.

Geklinia politically unified by 1400, likely through bureaucratic reformation, those nobility marriages, and Lechian brute force to ease control.

Early Modern

Not really sure if Geklinia or Dregolesia have significant renaissance communities, maybe a person or two.

Modern

Pre-Industrial

A strong Lechia was likely significantly disturbed by an OGF:Napoleon from around Franquia or Flag of Plevia.svg Plevia in either the late 18th or early 19th century. This caused Lechia to politically disintegrate with subjects declaring their independance. Geklinia, not wishing to contribute to a war effort across the strait, seized the opportunity. The date of Lechian independance is currently canonically considered to be 1825.

This is not commonly accepted canon, needs confirmation, I'm not sure how what OGF:Napoleon is supposed to look like (probably not as short), but I think it's a neat idea. Does also tie in to current Lechian discussion.

19th century industrialisation and such, probably more in the north of Geklinia than in the south.

Industrial and Post-Industrial

1912 Surian revolution causes your classic 1910s schenario with a variety of newly declared national states dotting the map before they're "eaten up", Geklinia utilises this opportunity to ignore the concept of the nation state in a Soviet style (splitting off the Dregolesian part of the country to form a Dregolesia contender). To some surprise, Geklinia is successful in this civil war schenario, fending off Dregolesian socialists and a third party by 1915.

Government in reformed to a federal structure to officially incorporate Dregolesia.

Early 20th century Gekdreg is characterised by adopting a fierce anti-Surian stance.

Not really clear what Gekdreg does in the Great War because the Great War is not really clear.

Due to significant economic disparity, and likely some cultural oppression, there is a Surian-backed (?) revolution (putsch?) in Dregolesia in 1964, which is militarily supressed. After this the central government takes efforts to reduce the disparities between the two federal units.

The base for the Nedelica Union is laid down in 1967.

Zamednovcha is integrated into Gekdreg in the mid 80s as a third federal unit primarily for the purposes of bureaucratic streamlining. Zamednovcha was previously a dependant and heavily influenced, but technically sovereign and internationally recognised, country under the Geklin crown.

Free travel through the Nedelica Union in the early 90s.

Apparently some democratic reforms in 1999.

Podol-Zamednovchan Timeline

This affects modern Zamednovcha and Podolia, based on a screenshot provided to Mie by Thermo-Nuclear in April 2023.

Similar early history as independant kingdoms to Geklinia, but no Lechian influence.

Northern Podolia-Zamednovcha probably unified as a state by 1450, southern would eventually fall under Surian influence.

OGF:Germans probably immigrate to northern Zamednovcha ~1550, not really sure if politically incentivised or not, not sure from where either.

Podol literary standard probably already established by 1600. Do note that northern Zamednovcha was historically Lechian-populated.

Podol-Zamednovchan dynasty change and instability circa 1625.

Podolia-Zamednovcha probably has some expansion of nobility rights following a revolt in the 17th or 18th century, resulting in a constitutional monarchy with noble-elected legislature and a weak monarch.

By 18th-19th century dynastic control of Podolia-Zamednovcha spills onto the same line as Geklinia, however the land is not integrated due to governmental differences.

Southern Podolia gains some form of independence from Suria in the early or mid 19th century, probably following some internal Surian instability, OGF:Napoleon, or lack of interest.

Industrialisation.

Democratic reforms resulting in a popularly-elected legislature.

Podolia-Zamednovcha loses all control foreign policy to Geklinia by the early 20th century.

With the Surian Revolution and a busy Geklinia, Southern Podolia launches an invasion of Podolia-Zamednovcha, they make gains and stall, and ceasefire is signed, border later solidified along ceasefire.

Both Southern Podolia and Podolia-Zamednovcha make gains from Suria during the revolution. Podolia-Zamednovcha on behalf of Geklinia.

Podolia-Zamednovcha starts losing control over areas of internal policy and starts consolidating various programs and departments with Gekdreg in the early-mid 20th century, as Geklinia is consolidating power in fear of Suria.

By the 70s it is evident that Podolia Zamednovcha cannot continue to exist in its current form and is best as a federal subject in Gekdreg.

Podolia-Zamednovcha integrated as a federal subject of Gekdreg in mid-80s, complete with a flag redesign and such. Inside of Gekdreg Zamednovcha continues to enjoy minor special privilages.
