User talk:Portier/Hetzer Council

So, I had suggested a few months ago that having a regional organisation among basically some or all of the territories that have UL11- in their name ;) or more formally the territories borderingt he firth of Hetzer, as these are located close to one another, have already mostly coherent mapping, which is a rare good thing on OGF, and preserving that cohesion by strengthening our collaboration would be pretty damn nice, and… well, it’s not because I’m setting up an international organisation that I should make a politician’s speech, but you get the idea. Anyway, people agreed it might be a good idea, then we forgot the whole thing, and now I’m getting back to it. The interesting thing would be to discuss what kind of international organisation we want it to be, and what would be its tasks. I had in mind something closer to the Benelux, or to the Nordic council, than to the EU, and the main point I see in it would be for cooperation in having common standards for goods, free trade, Erasmus-like student exchange thingies, linked power grids, etc. But I’ve no idea what are your opinions on the matter. More importantly, I have no idea if you’re at all interested in the whole idea, and, for all I know, I might be talking to myself ;)

Hi, I have moved this page to your user space. I don't know if I'm missing something, but the discussion you reference didn't have any responses. You're going to need considerable interest from the potential parties, before this can turn into a reality. Just now, it does look like you are talking to yourself! Hi! Actually, I had started thinking about the topic by sending messages to my neighbour mappers, and ofc that didn’t work very well (not to mention I then spent months neglecting the issue completely) so I wanted to move the discussion somewhere were we could actually discuss, and the wiki seemed a nice place for that. The reason there was no reply when you moved my page was that I had only created it the day before ;) But I don’t mind, here’s probably a better location for it actually :) (Portier (talk) 08:25, 13 February 2023 (UTC))
Hi, Lentia here. I'm fully open to stuff like that! I think Benelux/Nordic Counsil-like is the way to go, as there is some assumed EU-type organisation for the entire Vinn Sea area. It wasn't ported over to the new wiki afaik, but that doesn't matter much imo, I still think the countries in our part of the ogf-world assume its existence. So I especially assume stuff like currency and open borders to be part of that organisation, and the co-operation around the Firth to be on the less visible (mapping wise) stuff. But I'd like to hear from others if my assumptions are wrong about the Vinnic EU type organisation, if they aren't assumed to exist then yes I think we should at least include them in the Firth area. If my assumptions are right, then I think it just comes down to having an organisation page with the part taking countries listed, and then some domains of co-operation listed with a bit of information (e.g. science sharing/nuclear waste disposal/common events/...) and if applicable the place of a domain's headquarter or other mapping related stuff that is or will be visible on the OGF map. Hi! Didn’t know there was an organisation for the Vinn Sea (I got a territory in the area only just after the wiki had been moved ;) ). It would be interesting to know how much it’s still current? And yes, I agree that my idea really is just a matter of having a wiki page with a few institutions and events listed and a couple of buildings ;) (Portier (talk) 08:25, 13 February 2023 (UTC))
