Ataraxie-Grand Est or Ataraxia-Great East is a federal region in the far eastern part of Ataraxia. It borders the Sud region to the west.

The name "Great East" comes from the fact that it was the last region to join Ataraxia in the unification process. Prior to the Kingdom of the Songe and Marien joining the Federation, 'Eastern' Ataraxia generally referred to the area east of Ataraxia City to the border with Kojo, including Reino Oriental and Delmar.

History

Most of the Great East Region is composed of the former Kingdom of the Songe and Marien. The Great East Region includes the highest number of former entities, including the Duchy of the Dauge, the Free State of Landec, Saturnay from the Kingdom of the Sher and former unaligned border territories including Delfort and Géorgie. The Region also includes the only example of Ingerish expedition in Ataraxia, Élisabethville, founded by the Ingerish in 1664.

Economy

Primary exports are raw materials (coal, iron ore) and finished goods (cars, heavy machinery).

With a high concentration of 'new' industry, including the aerospace sector in Élisabethville and the technology sector in Stanleyville, the Great East has been the fastest growing Region in Ataraxia.

Demographics

The country is populated largely of native Ataraxians, but the percentage of foreigners has been rising in recent decades, concentrated in major cities.

While only 3% of the national population, Wiwaxians constitute over 10% of the population of the Grand-Est region. There are large Wiwaxish-speaking minorities in Stanleyville and Élisabethville, with more Ingerish-speaking immigrants arriving from other countries in recent decades.

The following table lists the ten largest metropolitan centers of the Great-East Region.
