Ataraxie-Sud or Ataraxia-South is a federal region in the south-central part of the Federation of Ataraxia. It borders the Centre region to the north, the Ouest region to the northwest and the Grand-Est region to the east.

History

Much of the South Region is composed of the former Kingdom of the Sher. Compared to its predecessor, Saturnay was attributed to the Great East Region and the Domaine Royal and Vendôme provinces were added to compensate for size, population and prestige.

Economy

The South Region is a land of contrasts. Domaine Royal still contains a number of Crown Corporations, as well as the main Royal Palace, and Vendôme has been one of the fastest-growing provinces in the Federation. Trax and the Southwest Coast have attracted attention from tourists and those interested in the relaxed climate and lifestyle. However, some of the interior provinces are among the poorest in the country, with little economic activity other than agriculture.

Demographics

The South Region has seen some influx to its large metropolitan areas from other Regions and abroad, especially the northeast and southwest.

The following table lists the largest metropolitan centers of the South Region.
