Belleville is a municpality of Broceliande. It's located on the western coast of the country. It's famous fot its large beaches, its dynamic economy and good universities.

It is the capital and main city of the Occidanie province.

Geography

Belleville is located in the a large coastal plain on the western coast. River Isar reach the ocean in Belleville.

History

Population

The Belleville metropolitan area counts 1 200 000 inhabitants, it's the third largest in the Broceliande Principalty after the Valoris region and Troie-Charleville-Sansévérina metropolitan area.

The Bellevillians are a richer than the national average.


Government

The Mayor of Belleville is elected every 6 years by the Belleville City Council. The current Mayor is Anne-Marie Casini (47 yo), first woman elected mayor of belleville in 2008.

Belleville has a strong conservative tradition.

Urban transportation network is operated by a public agency called métroBel (Société des Transports de Belleville).

It includes 4 metro lines and many bus lines. A tramway network operated between 1849 and 1947.

National railways, operated by the CFP, complete the network (regional and national services). The main train station is Gare Centrale.

International airport "Belleville-Occidanie" serves the city and its region.

Midi islands can be reached form the port of Belleville (bassin Notre-Dame).
