Warning! This article looks like was updated some seasons ago. Anyway, it does not need any refresh or more updates, it is only to set some info about football clubs in Brasonia.

Football (soccer) is one of the biggest passions of brasonian people.

History by Clubs

The first football club founded in Brasonia was FC Campo Verde, from homonimous city, in May 4th 1902, and the first match was against the second one, the defunct club Porto Capital, finishing 2x0 to FC Campo Verde, at June 12th 1902. The first goal was scored by Frederico Chaves, that names the FC Campo Verde stadium since his death in 1951.

Amateur Era

So much clubs was founded around Brasonia in various cities and even villages. The government gave total support to sport to the people as a form of discipline and good health. The matchs was almost always simple friendlies, because there was not a organization to the sport. Some leagues started in some regions, but they was only locals, despite agree players from anywhere.

Professional Era

In 1970, ten football clubs decides to create a national league. Was they Atl.Barra (Barra- MR), Atl.Cpo.Verde (Cpo.Verde-RV), Atl.Carioca (Gloria- LR), FC Campos (Campos- OL), FC Campo Verde (Cpo.Verde-RV), Conquistense (Conquista- RV), Desp.Ferroviária (Cpo.Verde-RV), Laranjal (Gloria- LR), Nacional (Baía Azul- OL) and Olimpia FC (Barra- MR). They invited Atl.Campista (Nova Campos- OL) and FC Santiago (Santiago- LR) and played the first edit of Serie A. The first match was FC Campo Verde vs. Olimpia, at Estádio Central, in Campo Verde, June 12th, exactly 68 years later the first match at the country, but it finish 0x0. The first goal of the league was scored only one day after, by Rafael Gomes, when Atl.Carioca won Nacional by 1x0, in Gloria city. This first edition finished with Desportiva Ferroviária as first champion, winning Olimpia by 2x0 in final match. In 1971, more 4 clubs was invited and since then, the Serie A is played by 16 clubs.

Regular Season

Each of the 16 competitors in the Serie A hosts every other team twice in the regular season, for a total of 30 matches between June and December. A win earns three points and a draw earns one point. Teams are ranked by total points, then by total wins and finally by goal difference, number of scored goals, number of away goals and number of away wins. If teams are still in the same level, a extra match is played in two legs to determine the final order in the standings.

Brasonian Serie A is considered one of the best football leagues of the World.

Atlético de Barra is a mid-size club and the second force in Barra da Grama, MR. They had a successful phase some years ago. The bigger rivalry of the eastside boys is with against Olimpia FC, representing the westside of the city.
Atl.Campista

Atlético Campista is from Nova Campos, OL, twin city of Campos, at other side of Paraíba river. Its bigger rival is exactly FC Campos from that city. Even being less traditional than FC Campos, the purples won the 1975 and 1977 national championships, and the rival, no one till today.
Atl.Carioca

Atlético Cariocas was founded by immigrants from Cariocas in 1946. Because it is this name. Is not a rule but every year there are at least two players from that country in the team. The oceanics uses the same home kit than the Cariocas national team, and even the logo is identic. This high identification is explained by the History. The third one of the three refugees ships that accidentaly "discovered" Cariocas was "O bom Abraão" ("The good Abraham"), from Gloria city.
Bonsucesso

Bonsucesso, from the city with same name, is away to be one of the best ones in Brasonia, but the highlanders are marked in history, because was the first brasonian club to play far from Gran Luslandia. In 1969, they won two matchs and lose one in Mecyna. Currently, Bonsucesso is not one of the favorites to win the championship, playing Serie B several times.
Campos

FC Campos is one of the forces in football from South region but never won a title, despite its big rival Atl.Campista, from Nova Campos, got two. Is considered a force because the black blue skies are the only team in South region that is hard to beat by Nacional de Baía Azul, one of the most stronger clubs in all Brasonia. Was founded by ship owners in Campos port.
Campo Verde

FC Campo Verde is the most traditional club in Brasonia, the older and the most successful too. A lot of motives to its supporters consider the club as the best of the history of Brasonia. Because this, the greens have antipathy by the other clubs. Won the league 13 times. Despite having the bigger support of the country, the club represents the higher classes of the society, simply because its first match was against a team formed by workers of the harbour of Campo Verde.
Conquistense

Conquistense is the mid-size club most successful in Brasonia. Played the Serie B and even the Serie C several times but won six Serie A in history, the most recent in 2012. The tricolors have not a specific big rivalry against any club, but its supportes are known by being the most close to their team, filling stadiums wherever the club plays.
Desp.Ferroviária

Desportiva Ferroviária was founded by workers of Companhia Nacional de Estradas de Ferro, the national railway company, and is one of the most traditional football clubs of Brasonia. The first national champiom and second most successful club of the country, was in the Serie B from 2000 to 2008 seasons because a hard financial crisis of his old owner CNEF, that was losing passengers to bus transport. But, with its big support, the garnets dont turn a defunct and got more one title of Serie A in 2011.

Its bigger rivalry is with FC Campo Verde. In a popular neighborhood at east zone of the city, the Desportiva Ferroviária represents the people, and, located in north downtown, FC Campo Verde represents the high society of the city.

Galo Branco

Laranjal

Laranjal is a mid-size football club and the second force in Gloria city. The oranges was in a good phase recently, being not relegated to Serie B since 2009. Its bigger rival is Atlético Cariocas from the same city.
Miramar

Miramar is the small club from Baía Azul, facing its big rival Nacional. The maritimes faced hard crisis in past, but are getting good results lately.

Nacional is the considered the big-club that never won a title. Located in Baía Azul, the military heart of Brasonia and bigger city of the country, the blues are always between the first ones for several seasons. Is the favorite team of the Armed Forces, counting too with most of the fans from South region.
Olímpia

Olimpia FC is the bigger football club from Barra da Grama, MR, and one of the most traditionals of all the Brasonia. Is too the third top winner of the league. The blacks are almost every year in the top-three of the season. Has a internal rivalry in Barra da Grama against Atl.Barra, but the bigger one is against FC Campo Verde, in a match that represents the city of Barra da Grama against the capital Campo Verde. Really, this rivalry was born too because this match was the first one of the championship history.
FC Penha

Penha is located in the the limit between Rio Verde and Laranjal provinces. Because of this, the bees have so much supporters in Laranjal province than Rio verde. Its bigger rivalry is against Rio Forte, from the same city, and FC Leontina, from Laranjal province, both currently in Serie B.
Real Brasônia

Real Brasonia was founded by immigrants from Luslandia, given the name "Real" because the old monarchy in their motherland. The stadium Eusébio Ronaldo is a few meters to the limit between Luslandia and Brasonia.

The frontiermen are not one of the best ones in Serie A, and several seasons played the Serie B.

Santiago

FC Santiago is a mid-size club, but won 3 Series A titles. The most recent was in 2009. Usually the saints reveals good players. Was one of the invited clubs to close the first edition of the national championship.

Located in south end city. Is a very traditional team, but living its worse crisis in history. One of the clubs that found the National League in 1970, was relegated to Serie B in 2010 and still can not be promoted again to Serie A.

A mid size club counting with a big support in its region. One of the strongest clubs of Serie B, played Serie A several times but almost always come back to Serie B. A curiosity is the lions uses two different logos. In home shirt, there are a "FCL" abbreviation, but in away shirt, is little lion as logo.
Rio Forte

Mid size club from Penha, RV, the silvers are known because its devocted supporters. The club played Serie A several times, being relegated to Serie B last season. Curiously, its away uniform is almost identical to its big rival FC Penha, from the same city and currently in Serie A.
CR Vitória

The beachboys are one of the smallest clubs in Serie B. Is located in a small town near the conurbation Campos/Nova Campos, in Oliveira east seaside.

The dogs were the stronger amateur football club from Santiago, with a lot of titles in municipal championship. In 2010 got a professional team and in 2012 won Serie C, being promoted to Serie B. But is so dificult this club wins this season and get a promotion to Serie A. Its big rival is Marambaia, from the same city.
Marambaia

Is a mid size club inside City of Santiago. More traditional than Sporting, but not so much as Santiago, in Serie A, the suburbans is playing Serie B by 25 years without got a promotion or a relegation, being, anyway, the most traditional club in this league.

Are known as the north-souths, because was founded by Nacional de Baía Azul fans that was moved to work in a ship manufacturer in Delmar, close to Belgravia. The home kit uses black because it is the main colour of the company where the founders worked, and helped building a stadium to the team. But the away kit is the same of Nacional de Baía Azul.
Atl.Mirassol

Known as the geen suns, Atl.Mirassol had a very good time in 1970 decade, and its best result was the 3rd place in 1978 Serie A, but since 1998 they nevermore plays in the top national level. Is still considered a traditional club despite remaining in Serie B by several years.
Agronomica

The Agros are founded by students of Universidade Rural, in Nova Cidade. Obviously, the green colour in home kit is about the main discipline of the university, but the blue colour in away kit is because the colour of flag of the city. Its bigger rival is FC Nova Cidade, so much traditional than it, that inclusive played Serie A sometimes, but currently is passing by a bad time and playing currently in Serie C. The agros never reached Serie A till now.
Rimínia

Founded in 1990 by immigrants from Darcodia who lives in Delmar, the red darcodians are just a colony club, but recently had been one of the strongest clubs in Serie B.
Santo Afonso

In a city close to Baía Azul, the red saints are a strong club around this region of the country, being harder to be defeated at home, even against its bigger rival Nacional de Baía Azul, one of the best clubs of all the country.

The fishermen are the minor club from Campos, OL. Far from the category of Campos and Atletico Campista, its big rival is another small club from this portuary region, Vitoria, from Quitete.

The green tigers was founded recently, in 2002, but fastly got good results in its short history. Is not so good as the clubs from capital Campo Verde, like FC Campo Verde or Desportiva Ferroviária, but in metropolitan tournaments, is a better bet than its big rivals Belterra and Varzea Carioca, both in Serie C this season.

Serie C

Serie C is played by 24 teams divided in 4 groups. The two better clubs of each group follow to quarter-finals, and since this phase till the final, all the matches are played in two legs.

Grupo A

The Grupo A this season is formed by FC Balneário (Porto Vitória-OL), Nova Cidade FC (Nova Cidade-MR), Serramar (Conquista-RV), Náutico (Baía Azul-OL), Dep.Costeiro (Nova Campos-OL) and CR Portenho (Campos-OL).

As a coincidence, the most of the teams are from South Brasonia. Two of them, Náutico and Nova Cidade played Serie A some years ago, respectively in 2002 and 2008. There are particular rivalries in Grupo A, as FC Balneário/Náutico (from neighbor cities, in Campo Verde capital metropolitan region) and Dep.Costeiro/CR Portenho (neighbor/twin cities in west end coast).

Grupo B

The Grupo B is formed by Juventus (Gloria-LR), Campo Alegre (Campo Alegre-LR), EC Grama (Grama-MR), Belgravia (Delmar-LR), SC Floresta (Leontina-LR) and FC Litoral (Campos-OL).

As well as Grupo A, in Grupo B the most of the teams are from a same region, this time, from North Brasonia. EC Grama come to be the most traditional team in the group, playing Serie B several times, last one in 2012. Another traditional club in this group is Belgravia, founded by immigrants from Belgravia, just some quilometers north to Delmar. This one was relegated from Serie B last season.

Grupo C

The Grupo C includes Rodoviário (Bonsucesso-OL), Alto Lage (Alto Lage-LR), Recreativo (Penha-LR), Tropical (Coqueiros-RV), Belterra (Belterra-RV) and Dep.Iataí (Iataí-OL).

In a geographic well-balanced group, mention to rivalry Tropical/Belterra. Both teams has identical logos, and both played Serie A (last time 1997 and 1999 respectively). However, mentions too to Rodoviário, won Serie C 8 seasons, last one in 2010, being "the big one to be beaten".

Grupo D

Finally, the Grupo D has FC Candelária (Candelária-LR), Auto Esporte (Porto da Pedra-RV), Esperança (Palmeiras-MR), Várzea Carioca (Várzea Carioca-RV), FC Casabranca (Casa Branca-OL) and Atalaia (Atalaia-LR). Here, there is another regional rivalry, Auto Esporte/Várzea Carioca, both from metropolitan region of capital Campo Verde.

Mention to FC Casabranca, a traditional mid-size club that played Serie A several years till its relegation in 2008. In this group, all clubs ever played Serie B except Atalaia, that was just amateur last season.
