Gobras City is the largest city and the national capital of Gobrassanya located at the south end of the Bay of Gobras.

Before the capture of natural areas by human beings, the area where Gobras City is situated today was filled with swampy ground.

Protection programs

Today's only remains of the once so natural area are the Bosco Marshes and the draining field southeast and southwest of Downtown. The government has announced to create a fundamental protection program for the Bosco Marshes to protect brooding birds from expulsion by the expanding suburbs. The first announced possibility to protect the animals - stopping the tourist boat tours through the marshes - got denied by the city counsil, as an important source of income would fall back, would the marshes be closed for the public. Emissions by nearby ship traffic pollute the water of the marshes and are a danger for the sensible ecosystem. Important bacteria species became eradicated by the pollution.

At least 78% of the city area are build-up, mostly with one-family houses. The downtown of Gobras City is dominated from 5 floors apartments and some skyscrapers, which however aren't situated within a range of 1 km of the Capitol. In general there are 3 areas with a large density of skyscrapers: Riverbend - 1km south-east, Gohantown - 5km north-west and Chanayétte - 7km east of the Capitol square.

Suburban highrise building settlements

Caused by a large rate of births in the early 1960s, it got common to build large suburbs out of highrise residential buildings to supply new, cheap living rooms for the flood of new inhabitants. Today these cities are still an important aspect of the suburbs. Nowadays, the government tries to improve the living quality in such "Satellite cities" to make many empty apartments attractive for new owners. New metro lines are planned since 2011 to connect the suburb citizens to the shopping areas at Pablobocchi and Downtown.

Wards & Neighborhoods

Gobras City is divided into a number of wards and boroughs which make up the city. Each ward or borough is comprised of a series of neighborhoods. Most of the Wards in Gobras City are numbered except in portions in the northwest, southeast and northeast portions of the city, and in the rural mountainous part of the City to the south. Most wards are divided into rectangular boundaries by major arterials and natural boundaries such as rivers, others are divided by the neighborhoods they encompass. There are more than 140 different wards within the city. Below is a list of the current wards in Gobras City.

  • Italics indicate historical wards on the map that has merged into another ward.
  • (Brackets) indicate wards on the map that has not yet been established.

The parks of Gobras City are ordered in a circle-like form around the centre with a distance of 3-5 km. The architects of the city planned to place a "green belt" around the city to decrease the pollution from the inner city and the suburbs with a very high amount of traffic per hour. One of the most important parks in the belt is the Duhowe-Park situated between the suburbs Chanayétte and Gilkenny with it's high amount of trees and also it's recreation possibilities e.g. Satellite Peak with the GoCity-Radio Antenna. In south-western direction of the centre the parks are ordered in circle-like strips between Lamme and Hampton Hills up to Yuiona.

Military Installations

Gobras City has many controlled limited-access highways (or motorways) The principal routes include 1, 2, 3 and 60. There are also auxiliary motorways A-101 which serves as the inner loop, A-201 which serves the Worldport, and A-202 which includes sections of the Bangerter highway that have been upgraded to national expressway standards. As with all motorways all intersections and crossings are grade separated.

Toll Expressways

  • Eastern Capitol Tollway (ECT) - is a recently opened tollway linking villages and neighborhoods being developed in the eastern part of the National Capitol District. This tollway is electronically tolled in its entire length. Electronic toll gantries track vehicles entering and exiting the toll road via the GoTag Electronic tolling tag (a transponder mounted on the windshield of the vehicle) Toll is charged to the GoTag toll account which is paid electronically via automatic debit. Tolls for licence plate tolling (for vehicles without a toll transponder) are higher. Unregistered license plates see the highest toll. Tolls average Ð.75 per mile.
  • Meadows Expressway (B 33) - is a short, moderately used tollway that provides access to some neighborhoods southwest of the A-101 and A-60 highway junction. These neighborhoods includes Ibis Park, Cele, Sawsights and Connolly. This toll road is tolled using electronic tolling and the charge is a flat Ð1.50 for use of the toll road. The GoTag Electronic tolling tag is used for electronic toll collection. The Toll Road is 4 lanes wide for its entire length and is noted for its notoriously short and closely spaced interchange ramps.

Major Highways

A secondary limited-access system also exists and includes Hwy 31 - Etaxalee Blvd, these highways also include at-grade intersections in addition to grade separations at major crossings and interchanges.

The street layout is centered around the National Capital located inside the Kilometre Square. The roadway network was designed on a basic grid system with 24 roadways radiating away from the capitol at 30 degree angles to one another. These radial roads are named after the districts of Gobrassanya. Various ministry departments and are located in the blocks surrounding the capitol grounds. The street grid is based on a 125m X 125m block

Suburban development is based on a "quad" super-block, Basically a 2km by 2km square block based on the same grid system used downtown. Other parts of the city that are more hilly such as to the southeast have a more freewheeling street layout.

  • A 201 tunnels under the nature preserve were recently decommissioned and destroyed in response to environmental concerned and as part of a land reclamation project. Alternatives are being considered in reconnecting this section of the highway to A-2 or possibly converting A 201 north of the A 1 freeway to a surface boulevard.

All railway services in Gobras City are part of the integrated Gobrassanya National Rail network. City-operated Main Line trains originating from Gobras City Depot, Polahashee Grand and GSWX stations provide frequent service to nearby suburbs. Polahashee Grand is also the main terminus for long-distance trains to the east. Regional Rail and GoHSR high-speed rail service serve further domestic and international destinations from City Depot.

Gobras City formerly had an additional railway terminus at the NW of KM Square. Lhatghaver station was closed as part of the construction of the City Depot, with the former trackbed now utilised by the A2 North Freeway. The station building is now a conference centre.

Gobras Worldport is the largest airport in the nation of Gobrassanya. It is the largest by flight volume serving both national and domestic flights and serving as a hub airport. The airport is run by the Gobras City Port Authority. It was built from 1995 to 2001 to match the increasing number of flight-guests in the developing country and to enable providing transcontinental connections to all around the globe.

West Meadows Private Airfield

Main article: West Meadows Airfield

The West Meadows Private Airfield was built in 1964 for national flights to Laguna, Gorrawati, Kenrich and Queensboro. Its first name was "West Meadows Gobras City Tourist Airport" but with the time the capacities of the airport weren't large enough to match the number of guests. A discussion about making the airport larger failed in 1990 because of the high costs to flatten out the terrain for longer runways. Instead, Gobras Worldport was upgraded to relieve the West Meadows Airport. Since 2003 the airport is owned by a private person who rents hangars to local aircraft owners.

One of the highlights of the airport is the yearly "Gobras City Military Demonstration Festival" at October 19th to demonstrate the newest inventions of the military.
