History
The history of the Grey Coast is divided into six general eras.
Flaming Skies Era, 1330AD(?) - 1638AD.
Main article: Flaming Skies Era
Around approximately 1330AD (an estimate from researchers at the University of Aragansa Federal), large scale war broke out amongst warlords who controlled bits and pieces of Grisean land, each vying to unify and take control of a united Grey Coast. Named for the primary weapon used, flaming arrows, the Flaming Skies Era was a time of death and destruction, resulting in the deaths of possibly millions of Grisean peoples. The Era ended with the arrival of the Ingerish who systematically destroyed native holdouts and established themselves as the primary power in the nation.
First Colonial Era, 1638AD - 1882AD.
The first recorded mention of the Grey Coast in a historical context date back to the year 1633, when Ingerish sailors spotted the coastline. Upon landing, the sailors witness a piece of what the people of Grey Coast know of as the Flaming Skies Era. In 1638, the sailors returned with a large fleet, a large army, and several hundred colonists, and established a settlement known as Gravel Sands in the Kanata Islands, a previously uninhabited archipelago with signs of long-lost prehistoric peoples. Following the successful inhabitation of the Grey Coast settlement, the army landed on the mainland and effectively ended the Flaming Skies Era with the full subjugation of the native peoples, with only minor resistance from groups in the fringes of the territory. After their victory, the Ingerish officially founded the Colony of Grey Coast. (Wait for further information.)
Grisean Civil War, 1882AD - 1889AD.
With the rising tensions between different native factions and the withdrawal of the Ingerish, Grey Coast erupted into a massive civil war, spilling over into AN150B and Thirran and killing thousands. Over the course of eight years, rival forces armed with modern weapons destroyed each other until AN forces were sent in to defuse the situation. After the arrival of the AN, the rival factions came together, having reached an agreement with each other, and officially united the country. (Wait for further information.) In late 1889, Grey Coast officially joined the AN, and Under an AN mandate, Ingerland returned the Ingerish-Grisean refugees back to Grey Coast after the close of the war.

Administrative Divisions of Grey Coast
Main article: Administrative Divisions of Grey Coast
The Republic of Grey Coast is divided into twelve provinces, two federal districts, one autonomous province, one overseas territory, and various unorganised territories. In total, Grey Coast has approximately sixteen administrative divisions to govern. On 6 April 2021, two new provinces were admitted into the Republic: Lake Minseau Province, which was carved from the Grisean Capital District and comprises the Lake Minseau Island Keys, and Central Province, which was split from the unorganised territories.
Mainland Provinces
Planoria Coast - Northwest Province
Planoria Coast - Northwest Province is located on the northwestern portion of the mainland and is divided into fourteen counties: Mazarene, Seaton, Norman Beach, Gourlandt, Cape Astoria, Kinwood, Schnider, Normouth, Port Ashwick, Astransa, Trent, Inork - Fammas, and Abbotsford, with one area currently under direct provincial control. The province is mostly coastal, with some inland areas mainly along the Aragansa River. The most notable feature is the Sea of Trent, a large inland sea divided from the ocean by several barrier islands. The only access to the ocean from Trent is through both natural and manmade canals, nine in total. The capital is the City of Port Ashwick, being the largest in the province and the only one with an international airport. Several counties are situated on islands, the largest of the island being home to Abbotsford County, which contains a large forest as well as one of the largest wetlands in the nation. The political situation in the area is fairly simple, always voting in favour of the Social Democratic Party. The population within the area is approximately 1.2 million people, with the majority within the cities of Port Ashwick, Cape Astoria, Seaton, and the Greater Fredericksbourg - Aloh Area. The area is known for its beautiful beaches and extensive forests in addition to the Sea of Trent.
