This page is for the planning and coordination of Mennowa (internally known as AR120-43), the central collaborative state in the Federal States. Anyone interested in contributing to this state is welcome to make themselves known on the talk page.

Introduction

Mennowa is designed to be a state that resembles the Midwest of the United States. The inspiration for the majority of the state can best be seen in the US states of Iowa and Nebraska. The panhandle, however, will probably resemble southern Michigan or Wisconsin a bit more, given the interaction with the lakefront. Mappers that wish to participate in this state should study how things exist in those regions and map in such a way that reflects the spirit of the Midwestern United States.

Those interested in the Mennowa project should familiarize themselves with the two subpages explaining general information about the state and the way the collaboration will be organized. As the project progresses, please feel free to share your thoughts on the respective talk-pages. This OGF:Mennowa talk-page itself may be used to introduce yourself to the project or talk about issues not covered by the two documents.

The Mennowa project is being coordinated by Alessa and Leowezy. If you have any question or comment, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Project Status

The following tables explain which elements are open for adoption, currently active, or completed. To adopt a project make a request on the talk page or contact one of the coordinators. All map edits should have the project ID as part of the commit message.

(Phase 2) Pioneer and other early settlements
P2-SW Statewide, but concentrated along major rivers
See details:
•Basic plat, using grid systems; no buildings
•Streets spaced 330ft (100.5m) apart with alleys bisecting as needed
•Cities do not have to be entirely aligned with survey grid if along a river
•Detail natural features within about 3 miles (4.8km) of settlement (marshes, bluffs and ravines, drains and runs, etc.)
•Potential inspiration may be found in places such as Red Oak, Iowa

(Phase 3) Early trails and railways
P3-SW Statewide, but with restrictions
See details:
•Once major settlements are platted, connect a few with long-range overland trails
•Trails do not and should not largely follow survey lines
•Initial rail heads and short rail lines should begin radiating out of major river cities
•Only two major lines: Minneuka > Capital > B > N > St. Joseph and J > B > M > F > northwestward into -45
•No complex stations
