The rumors have been around about a potential future cleanup, but I haven't heard much official word. What stays? What goes? Will the entire country be wiped of everything? Will quality mapping survive? Will Commonia even still be a blue country? If not, what happens to the landmass of Commonia?

Sorry about the question overload, but we just haven't gotten many answers.

What I've heard has been very vague and ill-defined. From what I can remember, Commonia will be turned to a purple country. It will either remain whole, be reduced in size or be partitioned and cease to exist. I imagine whatever changes Commonia does experience will be quite drastic, otherwise all the edit warnings and such would not exist. I'm not sure what kind of mapping will survive, but it's unlikely that they'll delete everything in Commonia. Nothing seems to be happening soon; the 'changes in the near future warning' has been around for some years, but I can't remember how many. The admin team also has the Federal States to deal with, as well as the new territories, so I doubt anything will happen without warning either.

I dont know if I am rude about it, but I always see Commonia as only a test place to new users.

Creating a place in Commonia:

Option 1: Wow, it looks good! I will save it and copy/paste when I got my own territory!!

Option 2: No, it doesnt looks good. I need to delete it

But the major of the users, and also admins, still trying to create climate areas, boundaries, hydro/topo maps... Well, at least they are trying a good thing. Would be very nice if Commonia get to be a success map like Gobrassanya, but I think it was always running to failure  :-(

Before changing the status of Commonia, I suppose the admin would tag the country "possibly a future collaborative territory" in the overview map, or give some other similar indication. The warning not to edit the wiki article and recent highway cleanups are the only things I've noticed. I doubt anything drastic will happen any time soon.

Commonia is indeed likely to undergo drastic changes, but any quality mapping will be preserved, and there will be ample warning for people to move mapping elsewhere if they wish. The landmass may or may not be split into different territories — but we expect that the community will help decide what should become of the area before any changes are made.

Since the territory has now been split up further into the various other blue countries, which will be Asian inspired, I wonder if there should be or is going to be an effort to clean up commonia and rid it of all English mapping, saving what deserves to be saved, in order to prevent people just following the current mapping language, and also to get rid of the massive amounts of bad mapping in that area? I'd be interested for sure. Also, can someone update the wiki article? Looks like the civil war finally finished!

Previous changes have been announced as they happened.

The current changes will subdivide Commonia into coherent language territories, non-English, ahead of the blue territory in the FSA.

(recently the area of blue territories has greatly increased)

I see the need for a completely blue English-speaking territory, free of the restrictions 120-31 is slated to have. Maybe Rhododactylia fills that need.

I also see the need for a Chinese-speaking blue territory. As you know, we have many ethnically Chinese mappers who have advanced skills. Others should have the opportunity to develop these skills, and I don't really see Zhenkang's closed collaboratives opening themselves up to Chinese-speaking absolute newcomers. With West Commonia no longer speaking their language, a replacement is needed.
