So, there's a visual editor for sites using Media Wiki. It's a more intuitive and easy to use editor, as I know from experience, and I was wondering if it would be possible to set it up here. I know that there's a bit of programming involved, but I don't think that it would be much of an issue. (Then again, I'm no expert) It's possible that it might not be able to be installed, but I think it would work. So, is this possible? Is this even a good idea?

To be clear, this is for the wiki, not the map.

I don't see an issue with the current source editor; it's easy, simple, and much less work to get running.

Well, we would have a choice between the two. Those that prefer the one over another would be able to choose.

I'm not a person which should talk about coding because it's kind of natural way of editing for me because I was editing on various wikis before VE was ever invented but I don't think I want visual editor. It doesn't work fine, the pages edited by it get tonnes of unneccessary code (so the page size increases) and are hard to change using coding later and coding must still be used for more advanced editing.

Personally, I'm in the same camp as @Rustem_Pasha. I've used the visual editor and was admin of a wiki when one was tried out only a couple years ago. It was a disaster. A lot of the infoboxes that we use have coding that won't translate well and will break frequently with a VE. And, as Rustem said, the page size increases exponentially along with a whole mess that makes it difficult to edit later on irrespective of editor.

Alright, I was unaware of this. I've used it, but in a limited capacity, and I'm sure that both Rustem and Alessa have more experience then me with it. It's probably not a good idea then. I don't think anyone wants a mess on the wiki!

our version of iD is out of date, at the very least give us features like easier access to the layer tag.
