Proposed replacement to clarify the "Uploaded Pictures" section:

What images can I upload to the OGF encyclopedia?
Whenever you upload an image, please make sure to include a link to the source of the image when you upload.
Usable images include:

  • Graphics you drew and photos you took
  • Maps from OpenGeoFiction (including modified maps from OpenGeoFiction)
  • Public domain images:
    • Old images/photos/artwork:
      • In Germany, a work is normally (not always!) public domain if it is 50+ years old [§ 72 UrhG]
      • In the US, a work is public domain if it was published before 1923
    • Images released into the public domain by their creators (for example)
    • US federal government images (for example)
  • Images with a Creative Commons license: (as long as you credit the photographer, release under original license, and use for non-commercial purposes only)

Warning: even with all the above usable images, beware of using photos that show product names/logos (trademark rights) or people's faces (privacy/personality rights).

And in all cases, please remember to include a link to the source of the image at the time you upload. Thanks!

I think the section would be greatly clarified by rewriting it in list format like this. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Yes, it is not easy with the copyright. We should be more sensible with it as in the past. On the first look I find your text good - but I am no lawyer. Let us take your text til anybody has an more specific idea. Important is, that we go conform not only with us-law, but too with german law. The words (not always!) I have added. --Histor (talk) 09:40, 8 September 2014 (CEST)

Can we somehow make this clear for inexperienced users?

Today I wrote kind of a "rant" - although it wasn't supposed to be as much of a rant as a piece of advice - against filling blue countries with freeways and parkways and whatnot. Highways have their place and they should be used "with care".

I know and appreciate that admins are already taking care of this issue, but I propose that the "motorway guideline" be on a prominent place such as About or FAQ, so new users can read it right away.
