Usage
{{Infobox former country}} may be used for describing information about a former country or former entity. It has more functions detailed as historical aspects of a country, contrary to {{Infobox country}}, which primarily focuses on existing countries. Keep in mind it does not replace {{Infobox country}}, and should only be used for countries or entities that do NOT EXIST ANYMORE.
Syntax
The infobox should be added as shown below:
{{Infobox former country |native_name = <!-- Name in a modern syntax of native language(s). Leave blank if name is only in Ingerish. Separate with line breaks<br/> If language uses Romantic characters, place name(s) in italics. --> |conventional_long_name = <!-- Full name in Ingerish --> |common_name = <!-- Name to be used in constructing links and category names; not for display --> |continent = <!-- Generates categories of the type "Former countries in Europe" --> |region = <!-- Reserved for generating categories on subregions of continents --> |era = <!-- Reserved for specific eras in history --> |status = <!-- Status: see Parameter list on template page --> |status_text = <!-- A free text to describe status at the top of the infobox. Status and empire
The status and empire fields are fields that are extremely sensitive to the information that is entered there. Possible entries are:
- status= Empire, Federation, Confederation, State union, Special territory, Unrecognized state, City-state, Commonwealth realm, Mandate, Assembly of Nations Territory, Protectorate, Client state, Puppet state, Vassal, Fief, Abbey, Satellite state, Colony, Provisional government, Exiled government
- empire= Ingerland, Pretany, Castellán, Neo Delta, etc...
Some statuses (the first ones in the list) will not be displayed, since they are not adding much information. In the case there is no government_type entered, these statuses actually will show up, to display a "political structure" field, to give at least some general information. In the future, this might be subject to change. For now, it's best to enter everything you can. Futhermore, don't fill in the empire field when status is empire, federation, special territory or anything. For now, this will create an empty cell.
In some exceptional cases when these two fields don't create a reasonable description, |status_text=*
overrides the regular description with an own description. This should be used extremely sparingly!
