Template talk:Navbox Countries of the World

There seem to be quite a few old countries that no longer exist here or whose users aren't actually active on the wiki. It might be better to delete every nation from the list and have users add theirs back in, to get rid of the clutter on the current list.ZM (aka _zM on OGF) (talk) 08:58, 13 April 2017 (CEST)

I think this list should feature all countries on the map. If any countries in this template are not to be found anymore on the map under their name, they can be deleted for sure. But if they're not active anymore, they should still stay on the list until their name gets changed. --Stjur (talk) 09:09, 13 April 2017 (CEST)

There are still lost countries and also existing ones with a red link here and in many other pages/lists. Every time I try to clean up I need to investigate and waste a lot of time only to figure out that e.g. Brasonia indeed exists. My suggestion for this template and many others: For a country to show up in lists it needs proof of existence. A simple page with coordinates to check would be perfectly fine. It might be only my opinion, but I would like to have my pages free from broken links, unless they are broken for a purpose. But this eternal red - on a template - just adds every countries' page to the broken link category. If there is no complaint here until next time I get upset by a page full of red links, I will purge without mercy. --Toadwart (talk) 17:49, 8 May 2018 (CEST)

I would second this. If a country doesn't have it's own page on the wiki then it doesn't need to be in a template like this one. As you point out, it makes things very difficult when trying to establish what's lost and what's not. A rule prohibiting red links (unless there's a genuine reason) should be applied to all the various communal lists and templates imo.. Purge away. Ruadh (talk) 15:37, 9 May 2018 (CEST)
