If you start mapping a city in April 2017, you'll realize it's unrealistic and needs to be redone completely exactly on midnight. Kick off your 2018 the right way.

Now if you found my attempt at catching up with the trendy memes bad, I have news for you: it gets worse.

oh no

Oops, I did it again

New year, definitely not a new me. I've gone back to square one with the capital city of my country and started redrawing it completely while having sad music from the 2000s as a background.

It ain't my first rodeo. (and I'm so sorry for this idiom but I've been dying to use it for a really long time.) I've actually deleted and relocated my capital city once already, that was in April last year. And while Odrava is definitely better than the previous one - at least it's not on the tip of a peninsula - it still has issues.

Didn't everyone warn me to practice mapping small things first? Yes, they did. But as with other things in my life, I nonchalantly ignored all the red flags and thus, a city was born.

Odrava, version 2

You might be asking, 'but George, when is Odrava version 1 coming,' and to you I'm saying shut the f**k up, but also, fair enough.

What bothered me the most about the alpha version (yeah, let's call it that) was probably the topography. The two hills in the city center were like two badly swollen, festering zits on the face of a teenager. And the two rivers looked like me when I was 15, confused and in the closet - just crying a lot. So I changed these things. The pimples are gone, the tears have dried and both me and Odrava are somehow more mature and well-adjusted now, I guess.

The story doesn't end there. Well, my life story does, but for Odrava, there's more in store.

For now, I have sketched the western and northern part of the city. Check it out on the map, even though it's really like a beta version and definitely needs work.

I wish to bring the southern bank of the river to a similar level of detail, then finally draw an adequate harbor, draw some sights and interesting places, and maybe, finally close the question of whether Odrava needs a subway for good. Have a great 20-gay-teen!!!

Comments are v welcome

special thanks to PortCal bc/ he let me use his templates and he's amazing and i wish him good luck w/ his country too

Odrava v2 looks pretty dope. I like the Zdechov-Olivín area, reminds me of Slavín and Kalvária in Bratislava. Also, what is that weird V9 train line thing? I've never seen a light rail just barge it's way through an Old Town like that. Other than, that looks fine. ~~Michal (talk) 18:30, 8 January 2018 (CET)

Thanks! Be prepared to see many more unconventional things in the city in the future. --Eklas (talk) 19:56, 8 January 2018 (CET)
That's cool, but I'd like to know why it's there. Is that secret or something? Anyway, just want to know. ~~Michal (talk) 20:50, 8 January 2018 (CET)
I don't honestly know, it just felt right, and sometimes it's just nice to have things you can impulsively delete later --Eklas (talk) 21:20, 8 January 2018 (CET)
Agreed ;) ~~Michal (talk) 21:27, 8 January 2018 (CET)

I love the detail on Severni Mesto, you are the king of moderne housing developments/suburbs! Demuth (talk) 19:44, 8 January 2018 (CET)

I actually drew Severní město back in July and it's also undergoing major changes at the moment, but thanks anyways! --Eklas (talk) 19:56, 8 January 2018 (CET)

Eklas, as always, love your work (although I still give good old 2017 Odrava that melancholy look…), Odrava looks like a city I’d love to visit once. I’m really looking forward to seeing more details! Also great bliki and good 'original' jokes! Väry Nice! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to crying myself to sleep while having the good old 2016 music as a background --Stjur (talkOGF) 19:51, 8 January 2018 (CET)

💚💚 --Eklas (talk) 19:56, 8 January 2018 (CET)

I liked previous look of Odrava but it looked a bit unrealistic, especially I couldn't imagine the historical development of the city beetween the hills and without direct access to the river. Today it disappeared but the thing which I love in Odrava stood the same, so generally I like the change. But honestly this light rail on the overpass makes every conservation officer cry. But maybe that was a plan. --Rüstem Paşa Discussion 21:27, 8 January 2018 (CET)

Thanks! You're right, I might delete the light rail line. --Eklas (talk) 16:37, 9 January 2018 (CET)
You could have had it split off the railway in like Mecin or even earlier instead of the middle of the city. ~~Michal (talk) 17:16, 9 January 2018 (CET)
I wouldn't be that radical. The easiest way to solve it is to cover the rail under the ground on the old town area (to avoid shading the view of the river from higher placed old town). There is enough space to do it between Vorarska and Bednarova. In the newest part of the city cutting is enough. --Rüstem Paşa Discussion 17:29, 9 January 2018 (CET)
I feel like neither of these are really an option, concerning the terrain... anyways, I'm sure I'll come up with something --Eklas (talk) 17:45, 9 January 2018 (CET)
