The Nichiuri International Exposition (Nicknamed as the Nichiuri Fira) was a world's fair held in Nichiuri, Adaria in 1932. It was located in the Nichiuri Fairgrounds, built for that purpose, which still serve as one of the main hubs of events, congresses and meetings in the city.



In 1923, after the successes of the Ardisphere and Wiwaxia's expositions for their centenary and bicentenary respectively, the Mayor of Nichiuri proposed to the Federal Government the intention of holding a World's Fair in the city for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Adaria's independence. The idea was well recieved both by the government and the public opinion, which backed the project and started to call for ideas on its placement and theme. Two main proposals were made; The first, by Catelian architect Marcos de Chal, was proposed to be placed around the brand-new 4th of May airport, by the sea, and mainly focused on aviation. The second idea, by Nichiurian politician and architect Tarou Font, was to be placed in a marshy zone right next to the Palace Train Station, right next to the city center, and it would be centered around transportation and telecommunications.

The Proposal conflict

Public opinion, and specially, the parliament, was rapidly divided between the two options. Some people criticized Font's origins, as one of the most communist-leaning members of Nankoku's Workers' Party at the time, and some conservative critics argued that "Font's project is leveraging from the support of a World's Fair in Adaria to bring the principles of International Communism into the country". De Chal's proposal was supported by mostly Catelian and conservative politicians, but the people in the country was not very welcoming about that project, as the airport only opened in 1920, and at that point, Adaria didn't have any aeronautic industry of its own, although some businesses were already developing plans in the field. Most said that the aviation topic was "Too narrow" for an entire World's fair, which was supposed to show technological progress from all around the world.

Finally, in early 1925, the Nichiuri City Council approved Font's project, backed by a sizeable portion of the population in the city, although not without some modifications into the project

The Fairgrounds were built next to the first train station built in the city, the Palace Station. At the time of the inauguration, a tramway line was open to connect the city center with the fairgrounds, which was operative until 1970, when it was refurbished into a Bus station.



The Nichiuri Fairgrounds still serve as a central hub in the city, due to the amount of transport infrastructure built around it and its proximity to the city center.
