Wallace Irwin (1801 -1878) was an explorer and evolutionary biologist who developed the theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. Of Commonian origin, Irwin developed his theories while on the exploration vessel HMS Hound. These theories were profoundly influenced by his 1824 visit to Ūdzđąnąrąt (Udenarrat) and the islander Ŷjetū Nēşkin. His book was published almost 30 years after the voyage had been completed; Irwin was anxious about the conflict that might arise following its publication.
