Academic Support International (ASI) is an international organisation that supports students and academic institutions globally. Its primary aims are to foster equal access to learning, research and creativity and to promote scientific and sociological research and cultural exchange.
Further donations from Shuh and other philanthropic institutions allowed ASI to develop globally. On his death in 1967, 97% of the Shuh estate was bequeathed to ASI, including large investments in Shuh Polymer Plastics.
By 1974 around 300,000 students from less privileged backgrounds had been able to travel abroad to study and with ASI funding and support, well over 25 million students have been supported to live and study abroad over the last 30 years. In some countries the program receives additional local and national government funding.
Countries with students and institutions participating in the program include:
- Neo Delta
The program is open to all countries with individuals or institutions which share the organisation's aims.
Most countries have only one main office but some universities have branch offices located on campus.
