Silverdale ({{IPAc-en|ˈ|s|ɪ|ɫ|v|ɝ|ˈ|d|ɛ|ɪ|ɫ}}), officially the '''City of Silverdale''', colloquially known as (the) ''''Dale''', is the capital and most populous city of Apawiland, Federal States. It also serves as the county seat of Rush County. Its population was found to be 144,081 according to the recent 2020 census, an estimated increase of 10.62%<ref>FSA 2020 Census</ref>.

The city was established in 1849 as Morgan City and is a cultural center for Mavericks, with it being the first successful settlement by them, while also being the city where prophet Cohyn Morgan died<ref>Death of Cohyn Morgan - Silverdale Saga Pamphlet</ref>. Silverdale is also home to the Silverdale Temple, one of the largest and tallest Maverick Church temple in the Federal States. The discovery of silver in the south range caused a population boom, which was reinforced by the construction of a Great Western and Asperic railway line through the city, connecting it to Dennison and Jundah.

The downtown is dominated by low-rise buildings with a number of medium-rise buildings spread around in the vicinity; the city cannot support any tall buildings due to its proximity to Silverdale National Airport.

Silverdale is also home to a nationally-acclaimed zoo, the Silverdale National Zoo and Aquarium. Nearby tourist destination Lake Opáspeya is popular for boating. It also hosts a seasonal skiing resort. An exclave of the city, Fen Dells (separated from the city by Abbottsville) is a popular starting point for hikers due to how close it is to both mountain ranges which surround the city.

It is the center of the Rush Valley Metropolitan Area, which has an estimated population of 200,000. This includes Abbottsville, Bernal, and Mineral Mountain. Silverdale itself holds around 62% of Apawiland's population.

===Pre-History===
Before being settled by Ulethan Effesians, the valley was sparsely inhabited by the nearby Apawi natives. The valley had ceremonial importance to the natives, with Round Hill, being in the center of the valley, being a burial ground<ref>FSA 2020 Census</ref>. The Timona, Anokasa, and Kaitenas were known to influence the region, too.

Ulethan presence in the area was nearly non-existent and limited to lumbering and hunting. The valley was noted for its resources but no permanent settlement was attempted.

===Establishment===
In 1849, nearly 300 Mavericks from Choctamuskee entered the valley, first finding the town of Fort Maverick before settling in Morgan City. The population slowly decreased due to limited access to resources, with much of the population, especially the younger generations, moving to industrial Gainesboro.

===Apawi Silver Rush===
On July 24th, 1870, silver was discovered near the southern hills of the valley. News of this silver sent thousands to Morgan City, causing the population to increase by 1106% according to the 1880 census<ref>Silverdale 1880 Census</ref>, the biggest boom in its history. This was followed by a smaller, but still significant, increase of 357% in 1890<ref>Silverdale 1890 Census</ref>, and an increase of 173% in 1900<ref>Silverdale 1900 Census</ref>.

== Geography ==

Silverdale is located in Central Apawiland and is approximately 15 miles (25 kilometers) from Tejoma, and 22 miles (35 kilometers) from Sierra. Silverdale's position between two high mountain ranges makes it one of the highest cities in the Federal States, with most of the city crossing 6,500 feet (2,000 meters)<ref>List of Cities in the Federal States by Altitude</ref>. Some parts of the city, such as hiking destination Fen Dells, are high enough to give visitors soroche. Silverdale's highest point is Cobalt Peak, at 12195 feet (3717 meters), while its lowest point is the Candid River.

The city has access to a large tarn called Lake Opáspeya formed by the now nearly-extinct glaciers in Apawiland.

=== Cuisine ===

Silverdale has a diverse variety of cuisines from Ulethan immigrants and early settlers who used available resources. Immigrants mostly came from northern and central Uletha, ranging from places like Ruoguovvás to Kalm<ref>[https://svdgov.org/immigration "Immigration"]</ref>. They brought their respective cuisines.

Early settlers easily adapted to apples and would make foods like pies, cakes, oatmeals, and strudels. Naranjilla, a fruit native to the Cordilleras, was also relatively common. Potatoes were also a popular choice since they were easily growable and profitable. Other plants native to the (Range A) did not become heavily integrated into their diets.

==== Drinks ====

Silverdale is known specifically for two drinks; apple cider and roselle tea.

Apple cider has existed since before the founding of Silverdale when apple farms dotted the forested valley and even the lower parts of the mountains. A decent portion of the apples would be made into apple cider, which would then be exported to the rest of the Federal States.

Roselle tea is a specialty drink originating from UL06d<ref>Roselle Tea Benefits and Origins</ref>, introduced by the original settlers of Silverdale, who were [[Esquisitic Church|Esquisitic]]. The Church, heavily inspired by (Hinduism) and (Buddhism), decided to import this drink due to its health benefits and taste. Now it's served in cafés around Silverdale, usually with honey.
