The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

UL32a - Moyontawi, Officially Moyontawihi Ryenho i Goyaul (Moyontawihi Mori)/The United Republic of Moyontawi (Ingerish)

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

The territory is mountainous at its borders, save for a small portion at its NW/NE border. It is mostly hilly but patches of arable land exist near the rivers and coastline, or in valleys. There are also attempts to gain more land through reclamation at the coast.

It has a drier and slightly cooler climate with distinct seasons and a cooler summer.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Moyontawi has a population of approx. 15 million. According to popular belief, the people could be divided into 2 ethnic groups (the Todzu and Morisaam), but researches have shown that both are more of a spectrum

The population is mostly urban but at a lower rate compared to other East Asian inspired countries, due to the fact that sparse and more traditional settlements equally function as cities in terms of infrastructure, but are classified as rural areas since its lower density.

Development is more focused on its major cities, but there is a policy that enforces equal development. It would be visible on the map by recent development (e.g. City halls are located away from the central area with an accompanying planned town)

A brief description of the intended culture and language

Language: The main and official language, Moyontawihi Mori, an East Asian based conlang, is spoken by around 87% of the population. Ingerish is natively spoken at its NW regions near to its borders with Nuen as a colonial influence. Minor languages are mostly spoken in the coastal regions.

Culture: Despite being smaller in size compared to its neighbors, its culture is diverse, formed by the native people and travelers along with exiled people from nearby lands. It has a communal culture, formed by its troublesome past as a subject of territorial disputes, including but not limited to national border extension, colonization, and even conflicts between local farmers. When all the conflict was taking place, some built large structures that could dual-function as defensive buildings, which is an iconic part of its traditional architecture. Eventually more and more people occupied their own land in the once uninhabited highlands, which ultimately led the people to form a singular identity. As the name implies (Moyontawi literally means United land, although the word for 'united' could also mean 'peaceful' in certain contexts), their modern counterparts are known for their excellency in both work and studies by forming groups and cooperating, but isolating those who would not "fit in", which is a well-known social issue.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

(I would work more on these areas)

Noun project 579150 Conversation.svgDiscussion
Discussion for clarification & decision

  • Thank you for your application. Your concept is convincing and appropriate for the region. Before proceeding with the application, please expand a little on the following points:
    • The territory lies between the border of a seasonal wet and mixed temperate climate. While the mountainous areas could be argued to shield the country from rain, please be aware that the climate can't exactly be "colder". See also [1].
    • Could you expand a little on the history timeline of Moyontawi, especially around what time and to what degree colonialism by the Ingerish would have most likely taken place? Of course the details might change as the project progresses, but putting together a rough timeline for a start would help clarifying the concept you've laid out so far.
    • What degree of economic development would Moyontawi likely have?
    • More out of curiosity, do you already have a little bit of the Conlang developed or would that be something to start on once you start mapping the territory? What exactly does "East Asian based conlang" mean?

Thanks for your appreciation. I thought that the currents from the northern ocean could do the thing, since the warm Atlantic current heats up the British Isles when they have similar latitudes to that of Siberia. I could change it to be "mildly cooler".

The Ingerish could have tried colonizing the territory when they were at Nuen around the 17th century(I have read its application page), and probably built Ingerish styled settlements at its coast. It could have mildly affected the language and other aspects such as architecture (e.g. how it would look on the map). I would like to more focus on mapping, though writing fictional articles sounds quite compelling. I could collaborate when others try to write articles regarding my country, and that probably would help building enough history for an article.

Being inspired of East Asia does not necessarily imply wealth. I am planning on a developing country with lower HDI, with some characteristics from the past(The time is 2022, I know), since pictures of less developed regions sometimes resemble old photos IMO. It is hard to explain, but there is a plan, and would never end up doing OpenHistoricalFiction.

Don't worry, the 'conlang' is actually a patchwork of heavily modified syllables for the words and the grammar is quite ready. One day it could be organized in a sandbox to provide information to other users.

Thank you for your valuable opinions.

Thank you for your swift reply. Since the gulf that UL32a lies on is very thin and stretched, I don't think it would contribute a lot in terms of bringing cold from the north to the territory. The climate guidelines are intended as a rough guide only of course, local variations are possible, just make sure not to have extensive glaciers at unrealistic altitudes etc. Application approved. Looking forward to your mapping, Leowezy (talk) 11:53, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
