AR120-13 - Semlacova

The physical geography of this state will remain generally the same as its existing geography, with a heavily mountainous and forested western region, falling into rolling hills further eastward. The basic outline of major rivers and where the heavily mountainous region has already been mapped. The climate of Wilthamshire is generally temperate, with mild winters and summers.
The climate will be similar to the Pine Barrens in New Jersey. The summers will be hot and humid when the winters are cold. In fact, the humidity of the summers will be very high in the bay region due to the effect that bays naturally have on humidity. The topography will be mostly flat except for the far west side which will include some mountainous terrain derived from New Carnaby. The landscape will take inspiration from the Delmarva Peninsula and the Jersey Shore. Much of the area surrounding the bay will be dry and out by the mountains, it will feel like Kentucky or West Virginia.

I would like the highway system to be something like this: (red = interstate highway, blue = state limited access highway):

Wilthamshire is based upon the Mid-Atlantic region of the USA, as well as some influence from Appalachia. Physically, most of the state is rural and agricultural, with moderate population density. However, the major metropolitan area of the state, being New Annshire and the northern suburbs of Huntington, make up the majority of the state's population and economy. This region has major financial, business, and government sectors due to its proximity to the FSA's capitol. Rutherford is the capitol of the state and along with Milton (may be changed in name later) are smaller regional population centers. Wilthamshire's ethnic groups are mainly descendants of the original Ingerish settlers of the region, as well as immigrant Kalmish, Francquese, and other migrant groups.
The name Semlacova comes from the Croatian "zemlja rakova", which means "land of crabs". The largest export in Semlacova, is, you guessed it, crabs. The northern part of the bay (Foxwells Point) will be urbanized while most of the southern parts (Sinedell, Worthing) will feel much less urbanized. The area away from the bay will be mostly rural except for the areas surrounding Rockwall and Lebanon which will be mostly suburban and urban.

Wilthamshire was first colonized by Ingerish settlers and has grown since as a state of the FSA. The state has a mix of rural farming culture and its urban culture. In the past, the rural regions of the state dominated, but as urbanization continued, and especially with the major growth of Huntington suburbs, the wealthy and skilled urbanized regions of the state now dominate the state's culture and politics.
Semlacova's primary language is English, although there are some areas where Croatian is spoken.

Most of the mapping of Wilthamshire present currently is still the same as my mapping of the state when I owned it a few years ago. My existing mapping of New Annshire is the most detailed part of my mapping, and is almost completely unchanged from when I last owned it (https://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/-37.1476/158.2148&layers=B).
https://www.opengeofiction.net/#map=13/-10.9052/170.1665&layers=B

I have also done some mapping in blue territory to refamiliarize myself with JOSM when I first returned to OGF a couple of months ago. Here is a small village I mapped in German style (https://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/14.5008/-113.5732&layers=B)
I map a lot more on my local client, but I haven't figured out how to migrate this to a web server.

I also most recent have been doing mapping in the collaborative nation of Lentië (https://opengeofiction.net/#map=13/56.0452/45.2424&layers=B).

* Hi, conditionally approved - I like the application and the mapping so far. However, given the short time so far on the site and no natural mapping, the approval is conditional on review by 12 Oct. Until then limit mapping to within 314189. This takes in a swath of urban area, but also a big patch of the rural parts of the state. Thanks/wangi (talk) 21:56, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
* Hello, Amicharski! Please be noted that using Bosnian in the territory you are requesting isn't really the best idea. The three South Slavic languages currently present on OGF are all located here, in the region of Egalia, and they are Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian. There's no Bosnian state either, nor would it make really sense to have such a country as a colonizer. I would highly suggest from refraining the usage of Bosnian in this state you are requesting. If you have any questions regarding the language, feel free to contact me. Good luck with the application. Bixelkoven (talk) 20:58, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
* I have reopened the application, following the deadline. Unfortunately, there are issues with the mapping (lack of rural, lots of motorways, problematic railways), especially the abundance of motorway mapping in an area you specifically identified for rural mapping. Can you select from these three options:
:* Bixel is welcome to correct me, but I don't think he meant that the issue was the particular Slavic language, but any Slavic language. This area is inspired by the northeastern United States, and OGF's "old world" Slavic nations are generally landlocked, so Slavic overseas colonialism doesn't make much sense in this area. It could be plausible for a more modern Slavic presence -- maybe through widespread immigration, for whatever reason -- but most of the state's toponomy would've already been established, likely a mix of Ingerish (English) and native languages that were (or conlangs that could have been) common in North America. --TheMayor (talk) 22:18, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
*# Close out the application, continue to build up mapping experience in other territories
*# Take on the southern ~half of the state, with a prohibition on mapping further motorways
*# Take on the northern ~half of the state, with a further three month trial period to showcase rural mapping
* Let me know your thoughts, thanks/wangi (talk) 12:57, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

Well, for now, I think I'll take the first option and continue my mapping in other territories ThePhrogianOverlord (talk) 02:02, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The coord template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.
