ForumsTerritory application → Territory application/AN160 - Yraniru

Please fill in the information below to make a territory request.

This request is still under construction. Some names will be left for later to accommodate for changes, and I want to prioritize natural features. (eg. [another large city]).

The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

(ID:AN160 https://opengeofiction.net/#map=6/-60.414/84.705&layers=5) Yraniru, officially the Kingdom of Yraniru, is a small, islandic country near the southern end of the continent of Antarephia.

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

The Kingdom of Yraniru is a cold, mountainous territory. There is flat space, with most being found in the northern half of the nation. The southern half of the nation is very mountainous, similar to the Patagonia region of South America. While there are still spaces for agriculture/civilization, it is found fewer as you approach the southern end of the nation. The climate is rather cold, with a period of decent warmth during the summer. During the summer, temperatures typically rise up to 75F (~24C), with the highest recorded temperature ever being 94F (35C). There is decent forest cover around the lower elevations, but there is also a lot of short grassland scattered across the islands. A lot of the land is bare because of the mountains. Since the tree line is so low at this latitude, even the lower mountains tend to have a lot of "baldness".

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Most of the population is located towards the north, although there are some small cities sparsely scattered across the southern half of the nation. These southern cities are lower in population. The nation is separated into a handful of states, in which the largest cities have their own state. The Capital District of Yraniru is the state home to the capital of Yraniru, "Ayinuiq". The capital is the largest city, with [another large city] following close behind in size. These two cities will be the largest by quite a bit; the rest of the cities will be smaller (think a "large town", like Parker, CO). The architecture is heavily influenced by Ingerish/European (Ulethean?/) architecture. Most of the cities are placed in flat areas, typically taking up most of it. There are rarely communities within the mountains, as the mountains are rather unforgiving in terms of land use. The economy of Yraniru is just-above-average. While it is a very native nation, they do try to involve themselves in trade.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

The nation is primarily native, with some influence mainly by Ingerland, Uletha, and nearby territories. Tarrases, the closest nation, provides some Spanish (Castelanese) influence to the neighboring islands. The language that is primarily used is Ingerish, with many people also speaking the native laguage, Yualni. This nation grew quietly without much (if any) conflict. (Language map in progress)

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

Discussion for clarification & decision

  • I know the application is still listed as "under construction" but just wanted to verify: is this a request for a second territory, or is this intended to be a territory swap for AR120-74? --TheMayor (talk) 16:37, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
    • I planned on this being a second territory. I managed to find a more efficient way of planning out territories so I should have a lot more time to manage both territories. I don't map as often as more avid mappers, so I have a lot of time to spare, even with homework and soon-to-be-job stuff. Regarding the application, the only thing I have left to do is submit the state borders map and finish the language map. I tried to leave this application as open-ended as possible to accommodate for adaptations that would be necessary. Let me know of any other concerns you have, and I will be glad to provide clarification! Have a good one! --Forkymapper (talk) 01:56, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
