Planoria Coast - Northwest Province is located on the northwestern portion of the mainland and is divided into fourteen counties: Mazarene, Seaton, Norman Beach, Gourlandt, Cape Astoria, Kinwood, Schnider, Normouth, Misisauga, Astransa, Trent, Inork - Fammas, and Abbotsford, with one area currently under direct provincial control. The province is mostly coastal, with some inland areas mainly along the Aragansa River. The most notable feature is the Sea of Trent, a large inland sea divided from the ocean by several barrier islands. The only access to the ocean from Trent is through both natural and manmade canals, nine in total. The capital is the City of Misisauga, being the largest in the province and the only one with an international airport. Several counties are situated on islands, the largest of the island being home to Abbotsford County, which contains a large forest as well as one of the largest wetlands in the nation. The political situation in the area is fairly simple, always voting in favour of the Social Democratic Party. The population within the area is approximately 1.2 million people, with the majority within the cities of Misisauga, Cape Astoria, Seaton, and the Greater Fredericksbourg - Aloh Area. The area is known for its beautiful beaches and extensive forests in addition to the Sea of Trent.

Ville-Sankilaaq Province comprises the main island of Ville-Sankilaaq and the Lo'e Islands. The island of Ville-Sankilaaq is split between the capital city of Ville-Sankilaaq to the west and the Ville-Sankilaaq Naval Base to the right, with a dividing wall along the border. The naval base is the main centre of Pontic naval power in its EEZ and provides protection to Pontus, and on a smaller scale, Thirran. The city has a port and a ferry terminal that links to the only other terminal in the province at Lo'e and the terminal at Blackmarsh, Loxmoor County, East Archipelago Province. The island has no natural forests or trees, and the current tree population was brought in from either the East Archipelago or from the mainland. There are flat pristine beaches in the north, but as you go south, the elevation rises until you reach the south shore, where you find the Ville-Sankilaaq Cliffs with around a fifty-metre drop and rocky outcroppings at sea level, making the area increasingly hostile towards vessels. The small southern coastline and the cliffs are contained within the Ville-Sankilaaq Cliffs Natural Park, an ecological preservation site. Offshore in the north, there are naval testing grounds and off the southern coast, there is a marine preserve. Around one kilometre towards the southeast, at the edge of the maritime provincial border, is the Lo'e Island Archipelago. Comprised of the main Lo'e Island and several cliff shards surrounding most of the island's coastline, the area aside from the small port city of Lo'e is organised into the Lo'e Islands National Park, preserving rolling green hills and large cliff faces. The highest point in the province is at the Lo'e Rise at around 15 metres in height. The province is home to around 18,000 people, with Ville-Sankilaaq having the majority of the population at 15,000 people, leaving Lo'e at 3,000 people. Ville-Sankilaaq Province is one of the few whose votes frequently switch between the far-left Southern Cross Party, the Green Party, and the Social Democratic Party, the current ruling party. The area is often seen as a stronghold for members of the Southern Cross Party as that party wins the majority of provincial votes, followed second by the Social Democratic Party.

The Sovereign State of Pontus is a country in Antarephia, in the southeast, near the top of the Harda Archipelago. It borders two countries on land: Thirran and AN150B. Arlington is the capital city and is situated roughly in the centre of the country. Official languages in Pontus are Ingerish, Franquese, Pontic, and Kaorsedd.

History

The history of Pontus is divided into six general eras.

History of Pontus

Flaming Skies Era, 1330AD(?) - 1638AD.

Main article: Flaming Skies Era

Around approximately 1330AD (an estimate from researchers at the University of Aragansa Federal), large scale war broke out amongst warlords who controlled bits and pieces of Pontic land, each vying to unify and take control of a united Pontus. Named for the primary weapon used, flaming arrows, the Flaming Skies Era was a time of death and destruction, resulting in the deaths of possibly millions of Pontic peoples. The Era ended with the arrival of the Ingerish who systematically destroyed native holdouts and established themselves as the primary power in the nation.

First Colonial Era, 1638AD - 1882AD.

The first recorded mention of Pontus in a historical context date back to the year 1633, when Ingerish sailors spotted the coastline. Upon landing, the sailors witness a piece of what the people of Pontus know of as the Flaming Skies Era. In 1638, the sailors returned with a large fleet, a large army, and several hundred colonists, and established a settlement known as Grey Coast in the Kanata Islands, a previously uninhabited archipelago with signs of long-lost prehistoric peoples. Following the successful inhabitation of Grey Coast, the army landed on the mainland and effectively ended the Flaming Skies Era with the full subjugation of the native peoples, with only minor resistance from groups in the fringes of the territory. After their victory, the Ingerish officially founded the Colony of Grey Coast. (Wait for further information.)

Pontic Civil War, 1882AD - 1889AD.

With the rising tensions between different native factions and the withdrawal of the Ingerish, Pontus erupted into a massive civil war, spilling over into AN150B and Thirran and killing thousands. Over the course of eight years, rival forces armed with modern weapons destroyed each other until AN forces were sent in to defuse the situation. After the arrival of the AN, the rival factions came together, having reached an agreement with each other, and officially united the country. (Wait for further information.)
