Denaría has a dessert climate. There is a continental mountain range in the south, with pockets of mediterranean climate. Then the highlands take place. Here the desert its cold due to the altitude (2000 m). There are big salt lakes. Its a region with a lot of mineral resources. Then the altitude lows and take place a vast hot desert, with big pockets of sands. In the coast there is a minor mountain range, that helps to retain certain humidity in the northwest part of the country. The country is big with a very low density of pepople. The people concentrates in the northwest, where milder weather allows agriculture. The waters resources are very scarce. In the coast there are more populated centers, due to the oil extraction centers. This and the mining industry are the economic pilars of the country. The infrastructure is developing fast in the coast, but in the interiors is precarius. The country depends on the importation of food. Thus, in the last decades, the goverment has driven an agricultural revolution. With resources from mining and oil it has build big desalination plants for human and agricultural uses.

The desert has been long inhabited by nomadic tribes. In the highlands more advanced groups can be found. The coast was conquered by castellans (the official language is castellan), but this was a very poor colony, so that the country gained easily the independence from they in the XVIII century. There was a big inestability period, and when the oil was discovered a dictator took the power (1950-1980). With a revolution the country return to democracy till the present day. This history has concentrate in the coastal regions, but nowadays, with the rapidly expanding mining industry, there has been problems with the indigenous population, especially in the highlands.

Ive mapped Älgert since 2019.https://opengeofiction.net/#map=8/49.364/131.594&layers=B I want a challenge drawing vast regions without vegetation.
