National Highways 1–9 should eventually be [[wikipedia:dual carriageway|dual carriageway]]s, with at least two lanes per side and a asphalt or concrete road surface. They should be grade separated if they are not running parallel to a [[Collab:Mecyna/Highways/Motorways|motorway]].
The_Cute_Chick (TCC) is the coordinator and supervisor of the territory. Their role includes helping new users improve their mapping and making the territory more coherent. New users contributing in the territory should expect their contributions to be [intermittently] monitored and themselves to be [intermittently] contacted by the supervisor. However, they will not interfere directly with mapping made by active users; active users are those that have mapped in the territory for the last 4 weeks. For mapping assistance, feedback or mapping-related technical assistance (such as with using the iD (the in-browser editor) and JOSM editors), [[Forum:Request_help_or_feedback|you should visit the Help or Feedback forum]].

National Highways 2 and 3 should also eventually be expressways: expressways should have a parallel Regional or Local Highway for prohibited traffic, such as cyclists, horse-drawn traffic and pedestrians (e.g. {{relation|264557|Local Highway 1206}} for the Minoa Tunnel).

==Territory mapping guidelines==
In rural areas, Local Highways may be a single track road, but it should still have a paved road surface.
Follow [[OGF:Blue territory etiquette]]. Deleting others' mapping without their mappers' permission is vandalism and will be punished.


Deleting your own mapping is allowed but heavily discouraged. Mapping can (and should) always be improved regardless of its current state.

The Canal of Mecyna itself should not be modified. Crossings across the canal also should not be mapped. Mapping alongside the two banks are allowed.  
The number of digits in a road number determines how important the road is: National Highways are numbered from 1 to 99, Regional Highways from 100 to 999, and Local Highways from 1000 to 9999. Road numbers may not have suffixes.


Other than the Canal of Mecyna above, any kind of mapping in Mecyna can be modified. Mapping can be created anywhere. This means:
The road numbering system for all-purpose roads in Mecyna consists of a grid of three zones for vertical (north-south) routes, and six zones for horizontal (east-west) routes. National Highways 2–3 define the boundaries of Zones 1–3 for vertical routes, while National Highways 5–9 define the boundaries of Zones 4–9 for horizontal routes.

Mecyna should be mapped in Ingerish (OGF:English). However other languages are accepted and can be interpreted as diaspora communities within the country. In addition, names should not be abbreviated.

Road numbers of vertical routes begin with 1, 2 or 3. Road numbers of horizontal routes begin with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9. The first digit of a road number depends on which zone the road is generally in: for example, the road number for a horizontal route from Escala to Sarantidi will begin with 5, because the road is in Zone 5.


Below are guidelines that contributors are recommended to follow to make Mecyna more coherent as one country. However, these are ultimately optional.
The first digit of a road number that crosses into an adjacent zone will be the lowest numbered zone: for example, the road number of a horizontal route which runs between Zone 8 and Zone 9 will start with 8, not 9.  


===Settlements===
A road number may not cross more than two zones (e.g. Zone 4 to Zone 6). Road numbers with the same first digit may cross each other (e.g. National Highways 30 and 31 at Srenjia), but the crossing of two National Highways with the same first digit should be done sparingly.

* Cities are 9 km<sup>2</sup> or larger with mapped buildings
* Towns are 1 to 9 km<sup>2</sup> with mapped buildings
* Villages are smaller than towns with neighbourhoods and/or blocks
* Hamlets are places without neighbourhoods and blocks along a street or crossroads
* Isolated dwellings are places up to 3 buildings
* Localities are places with no [permanent] inhabitants

Infrastructure

National Highways 1–9 should eventually be dual carriageways, with at least two lanes per side and a asphalt or concrete road surface. They should be grade separated if they are not running parallel to a motorway.

National Highways 2 and 3 should also eventually be expressways: expressways should have a parallel Regional or Local Highway for prohibited traffic, such as cyclists, horse-drawn traffic and pedestrians (e.g. Local Highway 1206∈⊾ for the Minoa Tunnel).

National Highways 10–99, Regional Highways and Local Highways should be at least a single carriageway, with a paved road surface.

In rural areas, Local Highways may be a single track road, but it should still have a paved road surface.

Numbering

The number of digits in a road number determines how important the road is: National Highways are numbered from 1 to 99, Regional Highways from 100 to 999, and Local Highways from 1000 to 9999. Road numbers may not have suffixes.

The road numbering system for all-purpose roads in Mecyna consists of a grid of three zones for vertical (north-south) routes, and six zones for horizontal (east-west) routes. National Highways 2–3 define the boundaries of Zones 1–3 for vertical routes, while National Highways 5–9 define the boundaries of Zones 4–9 for horizontal routes.

Road numbers of vertical routes begin with 1, 2 or 3. Road numbers of horizontal routes begin with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9. The first digit of a road number depends on which zone the road is generally in: for example, the road number for a horizontal route from Escala to Sarantidi will begin with 5, because the road is in Zone 5.

The first digit of a road number that crosses into an adjacent zone will be the lowest numbered zone: for example, the road number of a horizontal route which runs between Zone 8 and Zone 9 will start with 8, not 9.

A road number may not cross more than two zones (e.g. Zone 4 to Zone 6). Road numbers with the same first digit may cross each other (e.g. National Highways 30 and 31 at Srenjia), but the crossing of two National Highways with the same first digit should be done sparingly.

Braided routes (a situation where two numbered routes share the same section of road) should be avoided: if it is not possible due to current infrastructure, it should not be longer than a few kilometres.
