A standard load unit (SLU) is a container used to load freight, luggage, and mail on aircrafts. There are different sizes of SLU, but the most common SLU1 is 2 m x 1.55 m x 1.6 m large. It was developed already in the early 1970's from Eduard Beuth at Aerotheon, but became a worldwide standard during the 1980s.
