Hi, I couldn't really think of an appropriate piece of Czech culture to plug in today, so here's some Alaska Thunderfvck.

How's the town?

First of all, how is everyone doing. A busy week, wasn't it? Also, how do you feel about the new Miley Cyrus song? Is she a queen now, yes/no? The new Paramore album? The drama on Drag Race? Gee, there's so many things happening I kind of wonder how I managed to hold my life together and even get things done here.

What I've done: a smol town. I guess I got some inspiration from Mělník, CZ.

I started with sketching the town on paper, which I even posted on twitter (@drabantia). Then I traced it with PicLayer in JOSM (which was a hell lot of work. Can we just pause and acknowledge how slow the plugin is? I'm using the 'wire model' style for speed and efficiency, so I'm not used to delayed responses. Is she using the default JOSM style? Bless her heart.)

Welcome to Rabětín and we have EVERYTHING. Honey, we're SERVING. Do you want to go cycling? No problem. Sightseeing? Of course. Stay over in a hotel? Yes. Camp? Yes. Shop around? Yup. See a movie? Sure. Settle permanently and get a job at the petrol chemistry plant because there's no other jobs available in the region? That wasn't a question. You're here now. Trapped for eternity making plastics.

Rabětín existed around 950 CE already. It was the capital of the Duchy of Rabětín until 1118, when it became a part of the Drabantian Crownlands. Even after that, the town remained important, much thanks to its convenient position on the river Borava. In 1933, the first segment of the chemistry plant was opened, which attracted new inhabitants to the town, especially from the crowded Odrava. The current population is about 20,000. The town has a good railway connection, the city center of Odrava can be reached within 30 minutes by train.

Here's what I focused on this time: variety. From agriculture to leisure, from country roads to railways: I'm pretty sure I used most of the tags from the preset menu, except buildings of course. I even sketched the energy network of the whole country to give me better vision of where the power lines should go. I had a great time, and I'm happy with how it looks.

Next week isn't going to be exactly bliki-worthy, I'm going to finish the surroundings and perhaps start working on the other riverbank, but I have a small surprise prepared, so, stay tuned.

What are your favorite small towns in OGF? How does Rabětín look? Do you like polymer plastics? Let me know and tune in next week!

I don't honestly care if they're signed and timestamped, just make sure they STUN!!!

Once again, i always somehow seem to follow your progress on projects from beggining to end. I LOVE IT! Its really cool! In fact, its so cool i am going to do something similar with Lešovská Nedela, which also happens to be a historical town. Funny thing is, that somehow i figured out you would base it on Mělník, because said town is up the river from Prague, and Rabetin is up the river from Odrava, get it?--Litvania (talk) 19:11, 22 May 2017 (CEST)

Thanks! Can't wait to see Lešovská Nedela finished. Also pst, Mělník is actually down the river from Prague. --Eklas (talk) 21:49, 22 May 2017 (CEST)
True because upstream downstream etc...--Litvania (talk) 22:07, 22 May 2017 (CEST)

About the new Miley Cyrus song; check out my all time favorite songs list on my user page; I wrote it in the day after it came out --Stjur (talkOGF) 19:15, 22 May 2017 (CEST)

I think I said this before, your taste in music is a bit similar to mine. Malibu is amazing, true! --Eklas (talk) 21:49, 22 May 2017 (CEST)

Alaskaʔaʔaʔaʔaʔa... do you know her Bro'Laska show with her brother Cory? Could watch them for ages. But back to your mapping; It's really exciting to see the "new" Drabantia coming to live. The little details, like the way the villages stretch along the rural roads, or residential area under construction in Rabetin. I always have a hard time to stick to a continuous area long enough to make it look decent, and this is a nice motivation to pull myself together and get some real mapping done ;)Leowezy (talk)

Bro'laska was amazing! Also thank you. ---Eklas (talk) 14:05, 24 May 2017 (CEST)
