Hi, and welcome back to the holiday edition of my bliki. In case you aren't familiar, every Monday I spew out some words along with a music recommendation, this week it's Černý brejle by Ready Kirken.

Sweat

I'm that type of person who starts complaining it's hot once the weather hits 25°C, starts sweating profusely at 30° and faints at 40°. And since we are currently experiencing a heatwave here in Central Europe, with temperatures hitting 30°C every day, I'm very thankful for the fact our trains mostly have a/c now.

As I'm writing this, my train is waiting in Česká Třebová. It would occur that Česká Třebová is the Rome of Czech railways, since you'll likely have to pass through it if you want to get anywhere. Prague? Check. Vienna? Check. Warsaw? Check. Brno? Why? But also, check. My grandparents happen to live in Silesia, whereas I live in Prague, which is conveniently connected to Silesia via railway that goes through - surprise - Česká Třebová, so I'm quite familiar.

So far my train has been waiting here for 25 minutes. Which is not bad. I remember travelling home in December 2005, when it was an unusual lot of snow, and my train gained three hours of delay (the total was 6 hours when we reached Prague in the night.) Train delays happen. The other time I was leaving Pardubice and thought I missed my train, but it got delayed by 135 minutes and I caught an earlier one.

Since you may easily find yourself stranded in Česká Třebová if you make the regrettable decision to travel through the CR by train, I will now look around and tell you some fun things you can do here. Maybe it will even get me some inspiration for OGF.

  • Listen to some Taylor Swift!
  • Think about boys Jesus.
  • Play New Rules by Dua Lipa for the twelfth time today because it's just so damn good.
  • Listen to more Taylor Swift!
  • Read Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett.
  • There's Tesco! Everyone likes Tesco. I downloaded a game called 'My little Tesco' on my phone and I've been playing it for three hours continuously up until now. The target audience, yes, is elementary school girls. Dignifying. You can buy vodka at Tesco.
  • Ever find yourself in the mood where you're like, 'Wow, I want to buy a new radiator right now!'? Worry not, Česká Třebová is the home of Korado, the biggest producer of heating technology in the country.
  • Is the hot weather getting too much? Or is it the delay and you being alone with your thoughts, driving you crazy? Perhaps it's the anxiety and sadness you've vehemently tried to surpress for so long and now it's coming crawling back and you start crying in public oh god why does this keep happening, whatever it is that's making you want to revoke your existence, Česká Třebová also has the largest locomotive depot in the country, and subsequently, a giant train graveyard! Join the old engines and coaches in on the fun!!

Comments are v appreciated

Good luck and smooth traffic will come to you but only if you comment 'get moving soon George'

In Silesia it was 30 degrees in the shadow indeed. But I'm the type of person who turns the radiator on at 10 degrees so I was delighted with the weather. Sadly I'm stuck at home for... various reasons. --Trabantemnaksiezyc (talk) 19:51, 31 July 2017 (CEST)

So I'm the only guy in Central Europe, who is happy that summer finally begun this year? 31 degrees in Masovia today, excellent day to work. Rustem Pasha (talk) 20:05, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
Sounds pretty nice. Hot station platforms perhaps not so much - though I guess your tears do evaporate quicker. Its strange how we spot things that link to the weather: I remember passing an junkyard of icecream vans when there was half a metre of snow. But do Koramo make a/c too? It got up to nearly 13 degrees today where I am, that's above average.--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 20:07, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
They indeed do! (I made a mistake, it's Korado, Koramo is a motor oil producer.) There however is a lot more tears to evaporate in the summer, because in addition to crying about my life I'm also crying because my eyes hurt from the sun or because they start sweating too. I'm very envious of wherever you live --Eklas (talk) 20:21, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
Rustem Pasha, but I've just said that I like the weather ;) . --Trabantemnaksiezyc (talk) 20:14, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
NO IT'S GOING TO BE 38 TOMORROW I'M GOING TO MELT AWAY --Eklas (talk) 20:21, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
34 in my city ;) . --Trabantemnaksiezyc (talk) 20:41, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
Trabantemnaksiezyc, I thought it was irony... Rustem Pasha (talk) 21:15, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
Every summer I think about moving to the mountains. --Eklas (talk) 20:23, 31 July 2017 (CEST)
