Náměstí Míru!

We're on the south bank of river Borava. It's where tourists are accomodated, hipsters (but does anyone use that word in 2018 anymore) and the gays live, and also where a lot of government buildings are located. It's a gentrified, forgettable, ultra-cosmopolitan area, that's looked down upon by Odravans from other neighborhoods. People here like to carry around tote bags with organic food, have serious opinions on coffee, crowdfund the local startup project, listen on vinyl to music that's sort of punky, electronica, kind of grime, kind of like new-wave grime, but kind of maybe like more broken beats, like kind of dubby broken beats, but a little bit kind of soulful, but kind of drum-and-bassy, but kind of more broken drum-and-bass, like kind of broken beats like break beat kind of broken drum-and-bass, kind of— Do you know what I mean? No?

is it hot in here or is it just you? *wink*

Much like Europe, Drabantia has recently been struck by a horrendous heatwave that brought record temperatures and devastating drought. I made sure to include plenty of greenery in New Town - in the streets, public spaces, at the waterfront, cuz yo, I'm a tree hugger, gurl if it ain' green, uh I'm not interested okuuur? It's sunny out there, but I do like a bit of shade, and trees help cool down streets and buildings, hold water, moisturize and clean the air.

What else do we got? The National Opera with a beautiful garden in the back with terraces and the water cascade. The Ministries of Science, Education and Sport and of Foreign Affairs (speaking of which, Drabantia has a new government.) The Drabantian Scouting Institute and the Drabantian Tourism Agency headquarters. Trams number 1, 4, 10, 11, 12, 16, 22 and the metro A line (I'm going to draw the metro tunnels and make transport relations someday too.)

Mr. Edwards: What is your aspiration in life?

My aspiration in life would be

to be happy.

And also world peace! - and, granted, náměstí Míru is in translation literally Peace Square. How fitting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located there.

The Odrava New Town was founded around 1870. At first, the neighborhood belonged to the wealthier areas of the city - the working class lived on the other bank. The streets are wide with tree rows on both sides, the houses are multi-story, art nouveau meets faux renaissance, spacious apartments with lots of sunlight. After the dramatic societal and economical changes Drabantia went through in the first half of the 20th century, the area lost its prestige and lower middle class prevailed. The location in the heart of the city and affordability attracted a lot of affluent young people in the 2010s (and lower middle class life is like way in right now??? like i'm just looking for a neighborhood that has a story and pubs with decorative mason jar lights))) and that's where the trouble began.

I went to Odrava. Yo, it's very dry. It's almost kind of like your...

Well, I live in inner Sydney, so I'm quite familiar with the idea of hipsters, even though I generally consider them evil and slimy creatures out of a horror movie... also, I really like the church mapped in the middle, and the park areas nearby. FictiveJ (talk) 01:19, 31 July 2018 (CEST)

Thank you! My main issue with all these 'trendy' people is that they're so smug about everything, I don't have time for their mason jars, craft beer and attitude --Eklas (talk) 19:49, 31 July 2018 (CEST)
You live in the inner city? My condolences; there are soooo many hipsters there! 😂. No hipsters here in Yass though. They're just so damn cute until they open their mouths --Turnsole80 (talk) 22:38, 31 July 2018 (CEST)

Probably the only one in existence. :o FictiveJ (talk) 00:52, 2 August 2018 (CEST)
Almost, yes --Turnsole80 (talk) 00:29, 3 August 2018 (CEST)

Well bb Ganja, the New Town church is not covering up the fact that you need Jesus. --Stjur (talkOGF) 07:17, 31 July 2018 (CEST)

I need Jesus Antonio to come and tell me my country should have been colonized --Eklas (talk) 19:49, 31 July 2018 (CEST)
Ah yes, that one Mexican author who might be the Second Coming. All good there. (Or is that blasphemy?) FictiveJ (talk) 00:51, 1 August 2018 (CEST)
