{{Territory application id and name}}

UL28h - Country name "Peralia" (to be developed by myself and also users [https://opengeofiction.net/user/u5n7 u5n7], [https://opengeofiction.net/user/waterstealer waterstealer] and possibly several others we may invite)

{{territory application physical geography}}

It is intended for the country of Peralia to be a temperate climate however with some drier grassland/desert areas. The topography will be relatively flat along the coast with some smaller mountain ranges. There will then be a larger mountain range in the west with some flatter areas west of that. The climate will be relatively warm but not too warm - it will be warmer along the coastline getting colder progressively as it gets inland with a very cold section through the mountains and then a mild temperature west of the mountain range. Here is a link to our proposed map https://www.flickr.com/photos/194858211@N02/51954187664/

{{territory application human geography}}The demographic of the country will be around 60% European, 30% Asian and 10% other. The economy of the country will primarily be based on exports - these will include farming products, timber products, and mining products. The majority of land (excluding the mountains) will be used for industrial purposes but primarily as farms, timber plantations etc. The country will be based off its extensive rail and road networks. The road system will cover most of the major cities with most main roads duplicated and sometimes grade separated. Every major city will have some sort of freeway bypass. The rail network will cover most towns with a population above a few thousand - but most branches will be for freight only. There will be extensive port areas with links to road and rail networks to deal with the country's exports, and domestic flights will exist. Finally, the mapping style will be based primarily off Australia and New Zealand, with older, denser suburbs (similar to streetcar suburbs) closer to cities, car-dependency in the middle and outer suburbs (but with commuter rail systems) and also some outer suburban employment hubs etc. The rural mapping will be based around extensive farmland areas that are present in Australia and New Zealand.{{territory application history and culture}}

The intended culture is mostly based off Australia - that being, it has a primary language of english, but many different cultural hubs in certain areas. Most mapping will be in English with some areas in other languages such as Chinese and Italian. There will also possibly be some sort of indigenous culture.

We intend to have our cities similar to this but far more detailed.

{{territory application discussion}}
Thank you MetroManMelbourne, u5n7 and waterstealer for your proposal. Your past mapping both in quantity and quality definetely qualifies you to take on a personal territory. Your plan for the physical and human geography is put together well and reflects your goal to emulate an Australian-based mapping style while also being original. The only thing that needs some more discussion is the actual location of your new territory: according to the [https://wiki.opengeofiction.net/index.php/OpenGeofiction:East_Uletha East Uletha Concept] and general practice so far, East Uletha is an "old-word" continent, meaning no colonialisation (akin to the settlement of the Americas and Australia/NZ by Europeans in terms of spatial extend and cultural impact) took place. More specifically, it would be difficult to justify the spread of the English language to this region.

Luckily, there are a number of alternative territories with similar topographical and [https://i.imgur.com/cGhMUQJ.jpg climatic] features that seem even closer to what you envision: parts of Deodeca (mediterrean climate) or a territory in the north-eastern part of Southern Archanta (Sydney climate) would be a great fit I think. The continent also has a history of English-speaking colonialisation. In both cases, TheMayor would be happy to discuss details about which territory would fit your interests as well as a cohesive world map best; changes to territory outlines by the admin team before hand-over of the territory are also an option.

Please let me know how you feel about this. I'm certain we will find a good spot for Peralia. Cheers, [[User:Leowezy|Leowezy]] ([[User talk:Leowezy|talk]]) 08:50, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
