NEWS (18th Jan 2015)

  • We have already a sufficient number of host countries. If there is a raceway in a "new" country, we will need to talk, because the 2015 season is now full. (Tamarindia will replace Luslândia GP, and Drevet will replace Mecyna GP)
  • Please say me if you have a national federation of motorsports. I need to create a list about this too.
  • Ok, I dont decide yet about simulating results, but, what do you think about new categories? In my "national" organization in south Tarephia (Gran-Luslandia), I will "organize" stock car races; truck races and... bus races (as a test)!

If someone get excited and think in organizing new categories, please say me

Hi Bruno. In the Ardisphere there is Ardescar, national stock racing association, which probably organizes other events too. I will probably make at least 10 tracks for these events... I was not sure if I should add them here, but the two I have made I have already added (Cartagén and Tacio La Rosa) here. Maybe we need a different table of OGFIA-certified tracks that do not participate in international events? Another category that would be fun to have would be Rallye. I was thinking of a Rallye maybe in Comala or somewhere in the desert west part of my country.--Luciano (talk) 06:10, 18 January 2015 (CET)
So, my friend Luciano... I was just thinking, creating another article only with the list of raceways, even if someones arent used in OGFIA events. You can see, in my raceways "Hugo Gomes" and "Ferdinando Brasilia", I mention they are used only in domestic leagues, but I prefer dont delete them in the list because, someday, they can be used again (if another raceways retire itself).

I want too, only create a list with links to the national associations, but not create rules to them. And about another categories, I talk sometimes with Sarepava, and he mentioned Rallye too, and MotoGP. But I dont have the "know how" about it. It would be very nice, but I will need help about these ones BMSOUZA 18thJan2015

Oh gosh... I added the raceway I'm mapping in Akinyaka to the list about half an hour ago. Am I still in? --tom_m7 (talk) 08:51, 18 January 2015 (CET)

Not problem, Tom! I would be the worse person if I cut you, because I invited you, hehehe... You are in, of course!!! BMSOUZA 18thJan2015

Racing leagues

We need to define the names of the categories we can use in 2015 season. My suggestion:

OGF Name Real World Name
Formula Plus (NASCAR, DTM, StockCar Brasil, etc)
(suggestions??) Formula One

What do you think about it?? BMSOUZA January09, 2015

"Premier Formula"? --Histor (talk) 15:50, 9 January 2015 (CET)
Very nice name! I think we can adopt it
OGF Name Real World Name
Formula Plus (FP+) (NASCAR, DTM, StockCar Brasil, etc)
Premier Formula (1PF) Formula One

Tomorrow I will create logos to these championships.

Other leagues

If anyone could like creating another category, as MotoGP, please say me. Particularly I do not like MotoGP so much, but I does not means that it can not exist in OGFIA. BMSOUZA(talk) 9 January 2015 (CET)

Rally & Formula E-esk league

Two leagues I'd really love to possibly see going is a Rally league and Formula E style league. I think it could be quite a nice thing to entice more work on rural areas and on urban areas to make race-worthy streets. One or the other is good, but I'd very much prefer a Formula E style league. Opinions and ideas everybody? Aces California (talk) 17:02, 19 September 2015 (CEST)

Good you mention it! Really I was just customizing two Hot Wheels Ford New Fiesta some days ago thinking in use it in some picture to a Rally series in OGF, and I was planning too some race tracks, as I was editing in south Rugenia too. I remember Sarepava also like the idea of Rally series. We can think more about it, yes!! About a Formula E, I did not think about it, but, yes, it is a very good idea!!! -- BMSOUZA (talk) 20:53, 19 September 2015 (CEST)

Racing Teams

The best should be a team with two racers. Independent of the category. BMSOUZA(talk) 9 January 2015 (CET)

Another points to mention:

  • anybody can create a racing team and racers. Even if you does not have raceways in your countries;
  • the racing teams does not need to be a national team.
  • if the same team plays more than one category, please, use two racers in each category.

BMSOUZA(talk) 9 January 2015 (CET)

There are not rules if you want to build a raceway in your country and include it in OGFIA article. If you prefer creating a street course, do not need to create any type of marks in your country - just link us a .png file with the track on the map BMSOUZA(talk) 9 January 2015 (CET)

I dont have a way to simulate results in any category. I dont think I playing videogame alone at home could be a good way to create results in each GP weekend. My first idea could be using real results of real categories. If anyone does not gives a better idea, soon we will need to create lines between OGFIA racers and "F1/Nascar/DTM etc etc etc" racers...BMSOUZA(talk) 9 January 2015 (CET)

  • I have noticed a few things in pages related to sports where we need a custom results generator. I wonder if there is anybody here with a little programming knowledge who could write such a thing? I don't think it would actually be very complicated to write in C+ or another simple program.

Thanks for the page cleanup. ('Jens Nappii' is the closest Karolian transliteration of real-life racer Jenson Button!)--Sarepava (talk) 02:48, 10 January 2015 (CET)

Hehehehe!!! Nice!!! I was thinking this name could be any unknown finlandese racer, but this is Button, hehehe!!!

About creating results, I know nothing about programming. If anyone could help creating a simulator, we will be very happy! BMSOUZA(talk) 10 January 2015 (CET)

Late to the party, but you could install nr2003 (free) and download one of the two open-wheel mods. Only problem is that someone would have to actually create the tracks for NR. Anyway, nr has a feature that you can skip through a whole race and still get the results.

"Naming Rights"

I am naming the races with generic names, like "Rogolnika GP" and "Paxtar GP" but, obviously, the owner of the track can edit this name, as Sarepava, Luciano, Easky30 and Histor did. BMSOUZA(talk) 14 January 2015 (CET)

Any team owner is free to create and use a bodykit as want, just following the rule Premier Formula=Formula One, and Formula Plus=NASCAR/DTM/etc etc etc. Particularly I will use in all my teams (in Formula Plus) a bodykit inspired in Hot Wheels Circle Tracker, but it is not a rule. If you use a bodykit inspired in Dodges, Mercedes or Audis, ok, not problem about it. The same about Premier Formula. BMSOUZA(talk) 14 January 2015 (CET)

Starting a Premier Formula league

So, are we gonna consider starting a Premier Formula league? We don't need to do a current season, it could even be interesting to do a historic season, get some early PF history/origins/lore ^^

I'd be very much willing to make us a historic PF wiki to see how it can work, something 80s or 90s. Ideas and Opinions?

Aces California (talk) 17:06, 19 September 2015 (CEST)

It is another thing I was thinking these days, hehehe. It will be a hard work if we just "decide" about champions in the past... -- BMSOUZA (talk) 21:03, 19 September 2015 (CEST)
Well I'm going to start a 1995 Premier Formula season, I got a my first list of tracks somewhat sorted, but I feel it would be nice to document maybe some older versions of the circuits? Also I think I'm going to open a chat for people to sign up their teams and racers. -- Aces California (talk) 12:40, 20 September 2015 (CEST)

I noticed that the section for the raceways is now "certified raceways". However, I also know about what you all were saying about there already being enough host tracks. If our country has a raceway that we'd like to be considered for future situations, is there like a way I could add my course as one that is certified, but not currently hosting? Thanks, --Ernestpcosby (talk) 15:23, 21 September 2015 (CEST)

Hi, Ernest! When I change the name of the section to "Certified" I was meaning it is a list of raceways can be used in any international racing event, even if currently some one is not in any current event. Currently I am building more raceways in my countries, and I will put all of them in the list, but of course only one by country will be used in OGFIA events... About put in the list a raceway you did not build yet, I think there is no problem, if you build it soon. Regards! -- BMSOUZA (talk) 22:27, 21 September 2015 (CEST)
Thanks for explaining! I've already built my course, and now I know I can add it in soon. thanks! --Ernestpcosby (talk) 01:50, 22 September 2015 (CEST)

OGFIA VIdeo Games?

I guess this is somewhat random, yet related at the same time. Do you have any intentions for OGFIA having a video game series? I haven't seen any other major game companies in the OpenGeofiction world other than Freedemia's Megamer Games. I'd be happy for Megamer Games to create a racing video game for OGFIA, if anyone is interested. --Ernestpcosby (talk) 20:36, 7 October 2015 (CEST)

Good idea!!! -- BMSOUZA (talk) 03:13, 9 October 2015 (CEST)
:) Awesome. I'll add it to the Megamer Games Wiki page. --Ernestpcosby (talk) 15:07, 9 October 2015 (CEST)

Would any national motor-racing federations really be members of an organisation which calls itself 'Open Geofiction Federation'? Think about it.--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 22:05, 11 August 2016 (CEST)

I agree with you. We should really think of a new name... Niels20020 (talk) 22:12, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
It isn't easy to find names in English which preserve the 'OGFIA' acronym, but maye better in Spanish:
  • Organización General de las Federaciones Internacionales de Autosports

or any better suggestions...--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 22:47, 11 August 2016 (CEST)

Wow! I really like this "castellanese" name! If we consider the real FIA is not a english acronym... -- BMSOUZA (talk) 22:54, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
Or ... what would it be in Portuguese?--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 23:00, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
Organização Geral das Federações Internacionais de Automobilismo -- BMSOUZA (talk) 23:03, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
Then I would go with a 'dual' castellanese/florescentian' acronym. If you agree, I'll move the page. Can someone come up with a logo? --Udilugbuldigu (talk) 23:08, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
To me, its OK! About a logo... I dont have any idea... -- BMSOUZA (talk) 23:10, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
Just another thing... now, we need a castellanese/florescentian speaker country as host!!! -- BMSOUZA (talk) 23:48, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
Do it! It should be Brasonia or Luslandia - you started the page. Only thing, the countries are redlinks, you should at least make them into stubs which contain links to pages like this.--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 23:55, 11 August 2016 (CEST)
Balonis could also be host. Motor sports are very popular in my country and it's castellanese speaking :) Niels20020 (talk) 11:59, 12 August 2016 (CEST)
Well, Bruno started the page - all his countries have motorsports and a 'car culture' - so I'd go for one of those countries being the HQ. But a Balonese President for OGFIA and Balonis being the origin of the (franquese) 'Association Internationale des Federations des Automobile Clubs Reconnus' which developed into OGFIA?--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 12:45, 12 August 2016 (CEST)
It would be great to have a Balonese President, so let's do that :) It's okay that Balonis is the origin of the AIFACR, but only a very small part of the country speeks Franquese, so I don't know if the name would be realistic then... Niels20020 (talk) 15:14, 12 August 2016 (CEST)
Well, I am not against Balonis as HQ to OGFIA. I like the way Niels is excited about motorsports in OGF. In fact, there was a OGFIA-HQ in Slovech, but Belgravia doesnt speaks florescentian or castellanese. Before confirming my vote to Niels, I just would like to consider too about another user (sorry, I dont remember who was!!! AcesCalifornia?). I am mentioning that one who created articles about Premier Formula old editions, or something like that... If he is still active, could be a good choice. Latina and Ardisphere also got some history in motorsports, but I dont know if Histor or Luciano would like to take OGFIA-HQ. But, as I said before, no problem if Niels take care about OGFIA-HQ and wiki articles... -- BMSOUZA (talk) 02:58, 13 August 2016 (CEST)

No, Latina must not have the OGFIA-HQ. I think, BMSOUZA shall say, where it can be --Histor (talk) 22:48, 13 August 2016 (CEST)

Hard to say, friend Histor... Looks like AcesCalifornia is inactive... so I vote to Niels and his Balonis -- BMSOUZA (talk) 02:40, 14 August 2016 (CEST)
Sure - we could change it to 'Organisation Générale des Fédérations Internationales des Automobiles' instead, and HQ Balonis? - its impossible to get an english acronym with those letters. Niels - do you see a way this could work?--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 13:44, 14 August 2016 (CEST)
But Balonis is not a castellanese speaker country??? -- BMSOUZA (talk) 15:42, 14 August 2016 (CEST)
Et c'est pour ça que je l'ai nommé en 'franquese'--Udilugbuldigu (talk) 16:53, 14 August 2016 (CEST)
Eh, Balonis is Castellanese speaking, so I think the name could better be "Organización General de las Federaciones Internacionales de Autosports" if the HQ is in Balonis. Actually there is one county in my country that speaks Franquese, but the official language is Castellanese. Niels20020 (talk) 20:59, 14 August 2016 (CEST)
Yes, I'd go with the 'castellanese' name with the franquese additional name (to preserve the connection with the real Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile?). Have changed the page - but sure it doesn't have to be final. And the HQ location and president/individual reps still need added. Niels - out of interest where is the franquese speaking part Balonis? --Udilugbuldigu (talk) 12:29, 15 August 2016 (CEST)
Wait, before I draw the HQ in Balonis, this page says the HQ is in Athanoye, Sathria. This is the map of Athanoye, so I think we can just remove the information that the HQ is there and add that it's in Balonis. Anyway, the Franquese speaking part of my country is Comitat Herpin, near the border with Ardisphere and Aorangëa. Niels20020 (talk) 12:59, 15 August 2016 (CEST)
Oh, I'm sorry I looked at OGFIFA :p Niels20020 (talk) 13:36, 15 August 2016 (CEST)
Btw, I've built the headquarters here. Niels20020 (talk) 17:19, 19 August 2016 (CEST)

Adding Raceways
