National Anthem

Bless Plainus, Bless Plainus Bless us, the children of Plainus God bless Plainus Grant eternal freedom and unity To its women, men and children God bless Plainus and its people Glory, we buy with the highest price. I Swear, I Swear Swearing by the one who raised the sky Swearing by the one who spread the light Plainus will always be free. And the fire that lets the proud lion Of Castilla become stupefied, Removes him from the glorious beaches Where the crossed banner waves. O God of all creation Bless this our land and nation Justice be our shield and defender May we dwell in unity Peace and liberty. Plenty be found within our borders.

Early History

Settlers from South Commonia came in the region around 1810. The first settlement was Coppen. The settlement thrived because of the water nearby. The population grew to 1000 in about 3 years. More people came to Coppen and soon the settlement had too many people. A group of about 50 astronomers and 25 builders walked away from the city and headed east by river. This group, known as the StarGazers, faced many dangers on their quest to a new settlement and their boat crashed around the South Lodge Forest. They decided to stop and settle there because of the dense amount of wood supply and easy access to water trade. They soon built the settlement named Surdinya. Surdinya also quickly grew to 500 in 2 years, not as big as Coppen. The settlers stayed in Coppen and Surdinya. Most settlers came from Commonia to the north or Behar to the south. During the tenth year, around 1820, they formed a monarchy to rule the land, and the first king was named Hedas Ledais. Hedas ruled for 15 years with no problems and he lived in Coppen. Under his rule the settlements grew to a combined 6,000 people. There was many opposers though, including the infamous Tedale Kedia, who was a leader of the opposition

The First Revolt

Mr. Kedia and some of his friends opposing the king, tried to revolt in 1833. They used tactics never used before, commonly known as Forest Warfare. They hid in the forest and stashed weapons over one year, and recruited troops. By late August, they had an army of 500 people, outnumbered 3:1 by the King's forces. They attacked Surdinya by sneaking up and hid in buildings and behind trees. The fired at civilians with loyalty to the King. They fired and kept moving around for two days, until they were attacked by 700 of the King's Army. Almost everyone died in the revolting team, but Mr. Kedia got away. The revolt in Surdinya had a great amount of casualties, about 500 civilians. It only got worse, because 2 months later, in October, Mr. Kedia hid in a house and attacked people walking on the streets. Just as the King's Army was climbing up the stairs, Mr. Kedia placed a bomb and jumped out the window. The bomb exploded, killing some troops, and Mr. Kedia died in the process too.

Tensions Rise

After the events with Mr. Kedia tensions started to rise. More people saw the King's flaws and requested a new King. At the moment, there was no one to replace him, so the King declined the offer. Tensions flared even more, especially in Surdinya. The settlement "split" from Coppen. So, now there was 2 "alliances" One was loyal to the king, and the other was against him. The King didn't know what to do, and soon quit his job in early 1835. No one took the King's role, and it was a free for all. There were no one to guide the police and people started to form alliances. To top it off, the leader of Commonia added taxes to materials, so no one could eat since farms were burned and trade costed too much. Each alliance, named the "Surdinya Republic", "The Coppen Alliance", and "PEACE", decided to combine to form "Plainus" and try to form a new government.

Struggles Grow

The new government wasn't going that well, and Commonia noticed. They were fed up on the settlements changing their government, and in late 1837, they sent armies to attack. "Plainus" didn't know this fact, but they were finally starting to thrive and grow food again. Most citizens lived in Coppen, and Surdinya because a farming area. Just then, in early 1838, a food shortage happened and people began to starve. During that time, about 500 died of starvation. The people mainly focused on Surdinya now, just so they could have quick access to food. This plan didn't work out, and riots often happened in the fields. There was fighting for food, instead of peace.

The War of 1840

The army finally arrived in Coppen during early 1840, and quickly noticed that few people were there. They stashed loot and tossed anyone they saw in jail. They also burned down the town for economy purposes. The army was composed at around 2500, led by General Heia and Deneal. The news spread that Coppen was destroyed and the people in Surdinya prepared for war. They were outnumbered 5:1, and they were short on weapons. The army arrived in Surdinya mid-June and were ready to fight. Fighting broke out in the streets, and people were shooting at everyone. No one knew who was on who's side. The first battle, named The Battle Of Surdinya Square officially ended a week later. They retreated when a civilian shot General Deneal. They ran a good 2 miles and requested more troops. During this time, the citizens built a fort and decided to live there. This was one of the few times that they worked together. After that the army came back a few times, usually to failure. The battles in order are listed; Battle of South Surdinya, Battle of West Surdinya, and finally the Battle of Daque. After most of the troops on both sides got wiped out, a treaty started to form. After a few more months of fighting in the streets, the Treaty Of Commonia-Surdinya was signed. This gave up some of the foreign land freedom, stretching from Lake Lezerne to a still unnamed lake today.

Expansion Era

Although the newly-formed federal government criminalized the slave usage in 1850, after 1860, cultivation of the highly profitable cotton crop exploded in the East, and along with it, the slave population. The First Awakening, especially 1850–1880, urged thousands to move east. In the North, it energized multiple social reform movements, including abolitionism.

Planius' eagerness to expand Southward prompted a long series of Indian Wars. The Freedonia Purchase of Commonia-claimed territory in 1853 almost doubled the nation's area. The Revolt of 1857, which ended in a draw, increased Plainus nationalism. A series of military incursions near Lake Lezerne led Plainus to cede it and other Coastal territory in 1872. The expansion was aided by steam power, when steamboats began traveling along Plainus' long water systems, which were connected by new canals, such as the Lodgewood and the Norris; then, even faster railroads began their stretch around the nation's land.

The Beras Gold Rush of 1899–1901 spurred southern migration and the creation of new southern cities. After the Planius Civil War, fought from 1903-1906, expanded transcontinental railways made relocation easier for settlers, expanded internal trade to other countries, such as Naexma, and futhermore increased conflicts with Natives. Over a half-decade, the loss of the Planius bison (sometimes called "buffy") was an existential blow to many Plainus Indians cultures. In 1911, a new Peace Policy sought to protect Natives from abuses, avoid further war, and secure their eventual Plainus Citizenship, although conflicts, including several of the largest Indian Wars, continued throughout the South into the 1920s.

Economic Crisis

A Government policy was designed to promote affordable housing in 2002, since widespread failures in corporate and regulatory governance, and historically low interest rates set by the Reserve, led to the mid-1990s housing bubble, which culminated with the 1999 financial crisis, the largest economic contraction in the nation's history since the War of 1840. Kurae Buras, the first multiracial president, was elected in 1996 amid the crisis, and subsequently passed stimulus measures and the Good Wealth Act and Consumer Protection Act in an attempt to mitigate its negative effects and ensure there would not be a repeat of the crisis in the future. The stimulus facilitated infrastructure improvements and a relative decline in unemployment from 19% to 6%. The Good Wealth Act improved financial stability and consumer protection, although there have been debates about its effect on the economy for the next few years.

The Great Migration

Starting in 2018,The UCP formed an alliance with The Federal States of Archanta to improve international relations. People who disapproved of the way of life in the FSA, went to Wychelle, and sailed from Waukaken to a better life in the UCP. This move gave birth to a booming economy not just to the UCP but also Wychelle. This movement gave away the Havajo influence of Portulia and The Franquese Corner

Highway Expansion Program

The United Cities Of Plainus Highway Expansion Program was approved in December 2018. With one of the highest population growth in Archanta, the government decided it was a good time to connect everything, as traffic has became worse. The completion will be in December 2025, 7 years later. The expansion's hope by the government is traffic control, and accessibility to new settlements near the newly founded trade city, New Castle. Not only that, but at the end, the UCP will be connected to 3 countries.
