I realise we don't have a thread yet for the discussion of communism in OGF. The communist ideology and its variants (Maoism, Juche, Titoism, to name a few) were widespread in our world, and this thread is intended to consolidate how the communist ideology would have developed and spread in OGF. Obviously, this is not a thread to debate the merits or disadvantages of communism, and I hope we can keep things civil.
Based on consensus drawn thus far, communism originated in West Uletha, and Suria was the first communist state in OGF (or at least one of the earliest). Something I wondered is how communism could have spread, like in our world scholars in France had influenced revolutionaries like Pol Pot and Ho Chi Minh.
The ideology could still impact the development of respective countries, particularly if you noticed the more industrial-oriented development around Soviet-era cities such as 
Perm and Almaty and their residential-blocks. Other impacts include street naming and monuments/statues dedicated to the communist ideology and its variants.

I know this is kinda old now but I am beginning to develop a communist country and I am very much interested in this matter, so this is me trying to revive this discussion. In order to avoid naming things after real-life people, it would be important to decide who would be the equivalent to the most influential communist thinkers, mainly Marx, Lenin, Stalin or Mao, those who would have shaped how communism is viewed and implemented worldwide, and the period of time in which they published work. If Suria was the first communist country and their revolution took place around the late 1910s, then the OGF-equivalent to Marx should have published their main works around the 1850s, close to the real-life timeline. This would also affect non-communist countries and the evolution of worker's rights and the welfare state.
Another thing to debate would be if there is some sort of Communist International organization between the socialist countries. As far as I am aware, there is no such thing as a Cold War or NATO in OGF, so this organization should not be military. At the very least, some sort of political and ideological organization in which socialist parties collaborate regardless of if they are in power or not and maybe some sort of economic integration to ease trade and aid between countries, ensuring development.
I think all of this is important in order to name streets, avenues, squares or monuments after important dates or important people. It would also help to ensure some sort of cohesion in regards of lore between different states. And if some sort of organization is created that would also add a lot to the world-building.
