This index contains information about currencies as they are used globally.

Important technical notes to users
Please use the template {{currency}} to add your territory's currency to the list. Pictures in the sample should be only a single bill or selection of coins, not the entire array. Please use your territory's economy page to display more than a simple sample. Images that are excessively tall or large will be removed. Remarks in the "additional information" area should be kept to a minimum and be essential to the valuation or understanding of the currency. A full history or other comments should be reserved for the territory's economy page. Superlatives and global currency status will be removed. Links to the central bank or other facilities are welcome and encouraged either in the central bank field of the template or in the additional information.

In the 1840s it was completely revalued to its current denominations. Over the last few years, its valuation as averaged 0.291 USD. There has been a push in recent years by the Maureti government to reissue 5Ɲ coins as bills, but this has proven highly unpopular and not gained much traction politically.
