Infernia is relatively flat, with a slight incline further inland. However, there is a chain of hills/mountains ranging up to 800m in height as an extension of the Kintinara Hills in Riverina going south, at the east edge of the province. This mountain range is located on a fault line, making Infernia somewhat seismically active. Infernia contains several forests, though their landcover has decreased significantly due to unsustainable logging. Infernia contains several rivers, which most towns are built near. The province also contains several lakes, predominantly in the north-central area. Infernia has a Dfa climate in the south and east, and a Cfa climate in the north and west.

Infernia's mapping style is based off of Australian urban, suburban, and rural development, particularly that of Melbourne's newer development areas. It is a wealthy area (though not excessively so), on account of its large quantities of crucial materials such as iron, uranium, zirconium and lithium, and due to it being somewhat of a crossroads between many other regions. Infernia is also a major global manufacturer of semiconductors and other technological components, similar to Taiwan. Infernia contains the HSD rail line and the THD-2 interstate highway. Infernia's buildings are made to be earthquake resistant, and the region has exemplary public transport services.

Infernia's capital and largest city is Rockwell, situated on the Panning River, and adjacent to Chirnside Island where many of Rockwell's residents live (similar to Long Island in New York City). Rockwell is a planned city, which began construction in 1921 and began being inhabited in 1926. Rockwell was was officially designated as Infernia's capital in 1928, taking the title from Aurum.

Infernia contains the northern fringe of Stradworth, and its twin city of Almaden. Since its founding in 1822, Almaden was a medium sized town, until the 1960s during Stradworth's rapid suburban expansion when it was absorbed into the growing metropolitan area. After an extensive urban renewal project and the creation of a new city centre, Almaden eventually expanded into Stradworth's twin city.

Infernia's former capital city was Aurelia, a city founded in 1842 after plentiful gold deposits were found in the area. Aurelia experienced rapid growth throughout the 40s, 50s, and 60s, and continued to grow until 1920, when a major earthquake struck and heavily damaged the city, necessitating the creation of a new capital. Aurelia has recovered completely since 1920, and is the largest inland Infernian city.

Infernia's first Ulethan settlement was Chartwell, founded in 1721 as a small settlement on the western coast of Infernia, adjacent to Ashburn Island. The city has steadily grown since then, and has many significant historical and cultural landmarks. Infernia's most prestigious university, Fieldstone University is located here.

Prior to the 1700s, Infernia was inhabited by several indigenous groups of people, most notably the Nantee, Lumquah, and Akomishim people, as well as the Burakoo who inhabited the coast. The settlement of Warenda (Burakoo) was particularly influential in the region, housing up to 20,000 people at its peak. Warenda was a major trading hub, and it continues to be the most significant city on the northern coast of Infernia.

Infernia was first mapped by Ulethan explorers in 1717, and was initially known as Caldwell. The province was first settled by Ulethans in 1721, with the founding of the settlement of Chartwell. The settlement's proximity to Warenda led to many interactions between Ulethan settlers and the indigenous population of Infernia. While trade did occur between the two, [PLACEHOLDER]. Between 1722 and 1729, a string of incredibly hot summers due to a major heatwave led Caldwell to be renamed Infernia in 1728, as Chartwell's residents erroneously believed that scorching temperatures of 40C and above were typical of the region, some going as far as to say the region was cursed. A couple of other insignificant settlements popped up between 1730 and 1770, but Chartwell was the only one that prospered. The industrial revolution began around 1780, causing Infernia to become even more prosperous on account of its large iron ore reserves. Iron was predominantly mined at [TOWN NAME], which was founded in 1784 and continues to be a major producer of iron ore to this day.

Chartwell continued slowly expanding, until a major fire in 1785 burnt down 40% of the town, causing a complete reconstruction of Chartwell, and later the founding of Fieldstone University in 1788. In 1801, Infernia's official boundaries were marked, though it was significantly smaller than it is today on account of lack of exploration into inland territories. The borders only comprised the northern coastal regions and the eastern mountain range (name TBD), though they were expanded to Infernia's current borders in 1813. In 1822, Almaden was founded as a small farming town, slowly growing over the following decades.

In 1842, large gold deposits were discovered near the eastern mountain range (name TBD), leading many thousands of people to migrate to Infernia in hopes of becoming rich. The largest of these gold mining settlements was Aurelia, which at its peak housed over 30,000 people. In 1846, the capital city status was moved from Chartwell to Aurelia, on account of the latter's newfound larger population and greater wealth and prosperity. Aurelia continued prospering for decades, as the gold reserves remained bountiful. Between 1847 and 1865, massive railway projects were completed across the whole region, allowing easy transport between major towns and cities.

In 1870, the Deodecan capital city of Stradworth began construction, eventually expanding over the border into Infernian territory. In 1872, Stradworth's plan was reworked to account for the recent invention of functional electronics such as incandescent lightbulbs, involving power lines and electric connections to every building in the city. In the 1880s, a period known as 'The Reworking' began, catalysed by the invention of the car. This led to street widenings, highway construction, and a major boom in population. In 1902, given the recent invention of airplanes, Chartwell Aerodrome was opened, having its first successful flight the next year.

In 1920, an M8.1 earthquake struck 56km NW of Aurelia, almost completely destroying the town. Within 1 year, Aurelia's population decreased from 38,526 to 10,194, due to the many casualties and the mass exodus of its residents to other cities. A lengthy reconstruction period led to the town returning to its former size by 1945. After the earthquake destroyed the capital city, Infernian officials quickly moved to plan a new capital city, which was chosen to be situated at the site of a tiny settlement known as Rockwell, which they decided to adopt the name of. Construction began in 1921, and began to house people starting in 1926.

In 1961, as a result of the rapid expansion of Stradworth, the small town of Almaden was absorbed into the city's metro area. This led to the town being chosen to house a new major city centre, and after a large urban renewal project was completed in 1965, Almaden expanded to become a burgeoning, modern city. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, a new era of technology began as a result of the recent invention of the microchip. In the 1980s, population growth boomed as the result of a newly revitalised economy involving the mining of rare metals needed in the creation of computers and other technologies. This led to rapid expansion of Infernia's cities and towns.

I honestly haven't mapped all that much on OGF. The current project I'm working on is OGFmapicon.png Geometria, a town based on the same mapping style that I plan Infernia to have. There are things I would like to improve upon (particularly the railways and rural mapping). I am willing to undertake a project to demonstrate my readiness to take on the territory as is mentioned on the territory application page.

It's my understanding that you've already reached out to the Deodeca community and they are in agreement with your plans for this territory. You have a very comprehensive proposal, but as you admit, your edit history in OGF thus far is a bit light. As such, having discussed it with my co-admin, we are granting probationary approval for the territory. Preliminarily, you will be restricted to a 10km x 10km test area along the Agawaskway border until at least 16 Apr 2024. Within this test area you are free to map as you like and coordinate with the Agawaskway project mappers as applicable; specifically, we would also like to see examples of rural mapping to demonstrate your ability to scale up to map the rest of the province in the future. Any time after 16 Apr, you can re-apply for the rest of the province and we'll revisit this application then. In the meantime, this territory will be marked as "reserved" on the territory map. Keep in mind that AR060-10 is a province within the Deodeca project; ongoing activity, coordination, and collaboration with other Deodeca mappers is essential to the project's success.
