Trinity Island, officially the Commonwealth of Trinity Island, is a state in southeastern Federal States. One of the smallest states in terms of area, Trinity Island is mostly known for its islands: Atwick, St. Mary and Holy Island, as well as the hills (some of them grouped) that predominate in its geography. It borders on Passamaqueets and Thermond to the north, Astrantia to the west, the Ardentic Ocean to the east, Perchorsee Bay and Perchorsee Isles Nature Reserve to the south.

The capital and largest city of Trinity Island is Worthington.

Etymology

The name of the state, originally, applied to the largest island in the current state and one of the largest in the country, currently known as Atwick Island. The most popular version indicates that the name of the island, and later of the whole state, is attributed to Andrew Fletcher, the captain of the 1636 voyage of the ship Atwick, which was carrying a religious and colonists delegation to fight against the spread of religious radicalism in Burton. However, halfway to Burton, a severe storm caused severe damage to the ship, and with no chance of being saved, Fletcher prayed to the Trinity to save them; and almost a few minutes later the ship was stranded on the beach at current Clifgate. Fletcher, believing that the Trinity allowed him to reach land, named the island where they arrived in his honor (Trinity Island).

The name of the island was extended to the Colony of Trinity Island and Worthington Prairies and, after the independence of the Federal States, to the state (simplifying it to Trinity Island) due to the great historical-religious relevance of the island, even after Worthington became the administrative center of the current state in 1702.

Geography

Trinity Island covers an area of 4101.76 square miles (10623.51 km²) within Southeastern Federal States and it is bordered on the north by Passamaqueets and Thermond, on the west by Astrantia, on the east by the Ardentic Ocean, and on the south by the Perchorse Bay and Perchorsee Isles Nature Reserve. Despite its name, a significant part of the state is on the mainland. The rest of the state consist of Atwick Island, one of the largest islands in the Federal States, and the other 2 major islands: St. Mary Island and Holy Island.

A large number of coastal inlets define the shape of the coastline of mainland Trinity Island, as well as the southeastern part of Atwick Island. Trinity Sound, which separates Atwick Island from mainland Trinity Island, constitutes an important part of the geography of Trinity Island as well as an important route for regional trade, since it constitutes the maritime access road to Burton, Passamaqueets and Worthington, the state capital. The southernmost point of the state is the Penguin Cape, which is located south of Atwick Island.
