The admin team have a private page at Admin:Policy concerns where we investigate issues related to users not respecting the site policies.

By far the most frequent issue is the import of mapping from OpenStreetMap or other maps - either by importing direct, or by tracing. Our policy is pretty unambiguous on this: "No imports from OSM. No copying trademarked maps. Doing these things will get you blocked."

"Be original" has always been core to OpenGeofiction, in addition to copyright, attribution and other legal issues this exposes us to. Investigating these concerns is time consuming and not at all rewarding. It keeps us from mapping. So, please - no imports from OSM. /wangi (talk) 17:34, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
